I love Paignton, been there quite a few times. When the kids were young we holidayed in Devon and Cornwall every year, been to most parts. The first time we went to Devon we set off super early, totally over-estimated how long it would take to get there, the roads were empty and we ended up hanging around for hours until we could get into the accommodation 🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6

Morning all, final day off before back to work tomorrow. Part of me will be glad to get back to a routine.
Have done finances this morning and I've had a £22.80 underspend this week. Would've been more but picked up a few bits from Iceland yesterday. £20.00 has gone to the new oven fund and £2.80 to the Christmas fund. £50 has gone to my emergency fund, would like to get this up to my target £10k by the end of the year if I can. The cc has been paid off and money for pending items put to one side. £250 will be going into my regular monthly saver tomorrow.
Balances are:
Christmas £17.62/£600
Oven £40.33/£600 (estimated cost)
Holidays £900 (still putting money to one side as hoping to get away at some point this year)
Monthly Saver £1500.00 (will be £1750.00 tomorrow) this is also for my new windows/door for next year's repayments
Emergency Fund £5050.00/£10,000
House £2380.00 (this is earmarked for the new windows/door being fitted later this month, is on 4 years interest free credit so the monthly repayments are coming out of this)
Not a NSD today as just bought a few bits from the WW sale including some new scales as mine are ancient and suspect not very accurate. This has come out of personal spends so not affected my weekly budget.
Will be starting back on tracking my food properly on the WW app from tomorrow and have a 28 day HIIT workout plan attached to the side of my fridge for ease of reference. Need to get back into a routine now.
Will be taking the dog out shortly, no idea where yet, will probably end up at the park across the road. I get a bit bored of it sometimes but the dog loves it and it's extremely handy.

On the plus side we don’t get snow on a regular basis and it tends to disappear as soon as it lands.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. enthusiasticsaver said:Haha my DH is very tall and thin. 6 foot 2 and around 10.5 stone which is underweight for his height. My DD2 is the same. They have no appetite gene. Makes it very difficult when I am 5 foot 4 and only have to look at cake to put weight on and I love food. I do make him take responsibility for his own food now as we are both retired as I cook low calorie meals so I can keep on top of my weight and stay in a healthy range. I always say he can either cook for himself or eat what I am cooking as I am not cooking 2 different meals as I did that enough when the girls were little. He always opts for what I am cooking and even cooks healthy meals for both of us twice a week. He snacks for England though and drinks more alcohol whereas I have to stick to no snacks or fruit and limited wine/gin and lots more exercise than him.
I am glad I am not the only one. When we first met my mother decided to knit him an Aran sweater for Christmas and asked me to measure him which I did. His chest was 32ins but she didnt believe me and said he had to be at least 36ins so made it to that. It was huge on him but, bless him he did wear it until it wore out and always said he liked it. The one advantage to him being so skinny is that cheap clothes can look very good on him because they are cut so skimpily.

Mr SA was painfully thin when I first met him, he started putting weight on in his 30s and is now around 18st from 11st. This is mainly down to him not being very mobile but still having a hearty appetite. DS is very thin and people say he takes after me for his slight build, the difference is his build seems to be natural whereas I have to work at mine. I’m only 5’1 and very small build so every pound shows up on me. DD seems to have picked up Mr SA’s side of the family’s tall and big build gene. I really felt for her once when she was 16 and we took her to get a moped and the bloke said gosh you’re tall you must be about 6 foot. She was (and still is) very self conscious about her height and build.Took the dog on the park this morning and the path down to it was treacherous. We had snow yesterday which had been melted by rain and sun then turned into ice. Mr SA had to head back home on his scooter he couldn’t risk it but I persevered and the dog had a brilliant time. I did notice Mr SA being helped along the path by an elderly couple when his scooter got stuck. I do fear for him picking up the virus when he’s forever getting into scrapes and being rescued by strangers. It’s lovely that people are still so willing to help in the current situation but to be honest he could’ve got himself out of this scrape.
After a day of blue skies and sunshine it’s suddenly gone very dark and raining.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
I'm 5'3" and of bigger build and tend to carry more weight than I really should. A couple of years back we both lost a lot of weight but neither of us felt very comfortable with it and have gradually put most of it back on.3

Your dog not wanting to go for a walk made me laugh SA 🤣. I think you do very well with your healthy eating and all your exercise 👏, it's the only way to stay slim in your fifties as our metabolisms are not on our side any more!
That hill is very steep 😳. As OBL says there are lots of hills in Devon and since moving here over thirty years ago I've always lived on a hill 😂. It helps to keep me fit, but one year we had snow that turned to ice and stayed icy for weeks and we were terrified to walk or drive anywhere 😱.
Good luck with your financial goals, I'm sure you'll achieve them 🙂.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
