That's Tuesday done
Don't ask about today  On the train this morning, got a call from the boss all trains from her station cancelled due to body on the lineBearing in mind I was relying on her to meet me and walk to the office with me. I had to go to the office in a taxi, ask the others if they wanted to go ahead with the boss on Skype - no they didn't so the meeting was cancelled to be rearranged in the next couple of weeks so will have to go back. I walked back to the station, was easy to follow route given by meeting people. Had a couple of hours to kill, so had lunch in Spoons then wandered round the station shops. Bought the GKs a little Christmas present each from Hamley's.
Thankfully the cold symptoms have disappeared again. Shattered though after all that running around. Glad I'm working from home again tomorrow.
Kept all my receipts as work will have to pay for taxi, lunch and coffees purchased.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I'm glad work will pay your expenses. So you did get time for some shopping after all
.
Make sure you have a relaxing evening.

I fell asleep shortly after my post last night and slept like a log until Mr SA switched the TV on at 04.30
I've been to a Pilates class this morning at the leisure centre, not a patch on the one I attend at work, far too easy for me it was just stretching. I could see how it would be good for those with bad backs or other ailments though. At one point I thought two of the people were dead as they were laid on their mats with their eyes closed having not moved for ages. Needless to say I won't be returning to that class.
Good news is that my free gym membership has been extended until the end of February. I can keep extending it every 3 months for up to a year :j If I can keep it going by the time the year is up I'll get it at a reduced rate anyway as I'll be 60 - yes
On the minus side my bathroom radio has stopped working properly so need to replace it. My wok needs replacing too.
I bought a new cookbook from Amazon and it arrived yesterday Miguel Barclays £1 vegan meals. It looks fab, there's loads of lovely things to make and all with cheap minimal ingredients. I've got quite a few veggie cookbooks but eggs feature too heavily in them and I hate eggs with a passion. No idea why but I went off eggs, milk, butter and margarine when I was 5 and still can't stand the smell, taste or look of any of them. I can't even sit with anyone eating eggs it makes me heave. Even photos of cooked eggs upsets me. I'm fine with raw eggs though and I'm not allergic I've been tested. To open a cookbook and see no egg recipes is sheer heavenI know I'm weird.

You are weird because I love eggs and milk :rotfl:. What about cheese do you like that? The cookbook sounds good. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

HH I do like cheese but only cheddar and cottage cheese. I also like natural yoghurt. I could very easily go the full vegan route and not miss anything to be honest.
I think I’ve managed to upset someone at work without even being there. They invited me to a retirement breakfast and I’ve tried to get out of it without confessing that it’s the thought of sitting with people who might be eating eggs. The sight/smell will make me feel sick, how can I convey this without sounding weird
Beanie I kept wondering if the instructor was going to ask them if they were ok :rotfl: Made me laugh at the end when he just put his coat on and cleared off leaving us to pack up. Not for me I’m afraid.
Got a busy couple of days at work, I’m in a meeting literally all day tomorrow and again until Friday lunchtime. No more exercise classes until Insanity on Sunday though.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Not a good reason for the meeting being cancelled but I’m pleased you got to have a little chill out time in London, even if it was only in the station.
Your Pilates class story made me chuckle as I’ve been thinking of going to one and was worried it might be too much atm - pity your isn’t a little closer to be - maybe I could play dead too :rotfl:January spends - £587.580 -
Maybe the best thing to do about the breakfast is speak to the person in private and tell them you wanted to come but it would be restrictive on everyone else as you can't be near cooked eggs? I wouldn't worry too much about being 'weird' - plenty of other people don't like eggs either, including someone in my family. I don't know whether I'm unusual but I know a few people with food aversions. Someone else can't be near either fish or crisps (so I've developed a secret crisp-eating habit, LOL).
I think if the person knew there's a genuine reason and you are explaining it rather than upset them, it might help. After all, people who risk allergic reactions have to be very careful if they go anywhere near certain allergens, they don't even need to eat the food to react, and allergies are on the increase so most people are more aware nowadays.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. Thanks Cherry I spoke to him the next day and he understands. He's not got the hump with me.
Just emerged from a full on 2 day meeting at work. Tiring but worthwhile.
After the bathroom radio dying it was followed by my phone earphones and washing machine dyingWasher is covered by Domestic & General, have definitely got my money's worth out of this as it's repaired at least once a year. Earphones covered by spare earphones and phone jack adapter. So all's well that ends well. Bought a new radio today from Mr S, cost £30 but had a voucher for £4.50 off £30 spend which made it better
Got £20 in vouchers from work for helping out at a workshop at short notice :j
Not all good as Mr SA has decided he wants to buy an old bike and do it up. No idea where this idea has come from. He hasn't thought it out, as usual. Where is he going to buy it from, where is the money coming from, how would he pick it up, where is he going to work on it and why?????
He said he wants a hobby. Reminded him there's plenty to do in the house and garden. He's not decorating or gardening he said, that's my job apparently.
End of my tether with him at the momentI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Blimey. I think Mr SA forgets(or chooses to forget) that you work full time & do everything in the house.
I do appreciate that he has his difficulties but he really does not know how lucky he is.
