Hi SA - echoing all that a positive diagnosis for DGS will surface soon. It must be so tiring for DS and DIL. :(. DGD sounds an absolute sweetie though :)

Glad Mr SA is looking forward to Benidorm. It'll be good for him I'm sure. Can you cancel the Amazon wish list though!

What a fantastic price on the Bordeaux!:j it's not often you get a decent wine offered at that price!:j

I didn't end up going to fetch more of the Bordeaux so today has been a NSD :) Think I might get a case of the Malbec next weekend though.

After the lovely sunny start today, we've had a mixture of sun, wind and hail!

EE - that sounds very much like what GS has. He can't cope with other children approaching him. If he's playing quietly he needs to be left alone or he goes ballistic.

Mr SA took the dog out on his scooter to look for St Patrick's Day revellers as there are a lot of Irish people in our area - he was disappointed he didn't see any. What he missed though was the pub at the end of our road had a band on 12-3 so it was all over by the time he went out. Too late to the party I'm afraid.

    Finances have been done:

Barclaycard is now £0 and paid off in plenty of time before the 0% ended :)

Tesco card £716.39 - this is just the remaining holiday balance which will be cleared on payday

VSP £164.81 - aiming for this to be £200 by the end of the month so need to get a move on

Emergency fund £3260 - will start adding to this from April payday onwards

Glad I made the decision to change my budget so the spends are 4 weekly rather than monthly, it makes things much less complicated. It still works out at the 50/30/20 split I was aiming for.

Meal plan has been worked out:

Today - mustard glazed salmon with lentils
Monday - veg sausages, roast swede and butternut squash
    Tuesday - baked piri-piri cod
Wednesday - aubergine curry and cauliflower rice (from freezer)
    Thursday - stir fry
Friday - not decided yet but will need to be something very low in points as I'm eating out with friends at lunchtime

To try and pacify Mr SA's spending obsession, I'm toying with the idea of giving him an extra £10 a week to save until the end of the month when he can spend it on what he wishes, either online or in town. He already has £10 a week which is meant to be so he can go for a coffee or buy a paper, which he never does, so this money mounts up. Notice he readily had £30 to give me for the wallet and another £30 to give the neighbour for the fence. Makes me wonder just how much he's got stashed away. I thought if I promised to take him in town once a month to buy something with a set budget and then he could get his shopping/coffee shop/pub lunch fix at the same time which will hopefully stop his constant pestering. It's a thought anyway.

I've got two things to look forward to next week - a catch up drink with a friend who moved to the coast on Wednesday afternoon and lunch out with my old school friends on Friday :)

Lanzarote 5 weeks on Tuesday :j

  • Well done on paying off the Barclaycard SA :T.

I think that sounds like a good idea to increase Mr SA's allowance and then take him out to spend it. Perhaps as you say it will satisfy his spending obsession a bit!

Is MrSA any good at deferred gratification though?

Also, would he notice if you quietly delete things from his wishlist?
  • You are a better woman than me SA - I’d be decreasing his spends not increasing them!! :o Xx

    That's Monday done :)

I haven't said anything yet to Mr SA about what I was thinking. What I don't want is for him to spend for the sake of it but what I do want is for him to realise spends aren't unlimited. But still in the thought stages right now.

Redo - no he doesn't do deferred gratification and yes I deleted his wish list.

Work friend is still in a coma in Spain with no sign of being able to be transferred to the UK right now. At least she's stable if nothing else.

Went for a run in the gym this lunchtime - keeps me out of the shops :)

Another NSD, two in a row :) Also an AFD :)

5 weeks will fly by and then you’ll be sunning yourself.

Your grandson sounds like a lot of the children I’ve worked with over the years. I always feel for the parents as people just don’t get it and give the most awful looks and even comments if the children have melt downs when out and about. It’s so hard for them - I know I work with children but I can go home and switch off they can’t. I hope they get some answers soon which should open up courses to help them through.

And here we are at Wednesday already.

Met one of my retired friends for a couple of drinks this afternoon, had a lovely catch up.

Don't even ask about Mr SA!! He's been to the doctors today, of his own accord, after coming out in a rash. Because he's a priority patient they got him in straightaway. He's come back with all sorts of creams and has got to go for blood tests at a local clinic next week. All I can say is it's a good job he doesn't pay for prescriptions. Unbelievably he managed to buy a wallet from the chemists.

Found out today I could've got my Benidorm theatre ticket for free as a carer, oh well next time maybe.

Full day at work tomorrow then half a day Friday meeting friends for lunch :)

Bought a wallet at the chemists :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: . I shouldn't laugh but :rotfl:.

I hope his rash isn't anything serious.

It's worth knowing you could have got a free ticket, as you say next time. I'm glad you enjoyed catching up with your friends :).
