I hope Mr SA agrees to the Men in Sheds thing. I think you must feel very trapped at times and totally understand you just wanting a few hours to yourself at home. Not a lot to ask. Would your DD or SIL take him for lunch out ? He enjoys that doesn't he? Trouble is as weather getting less mild and rainy things like walks round a park are not really an option. Get a ticket for Benidorm. Thanks everyone
I've not done anything about Men in Sheds or Benidorm tickets yet. Tuesday and Wednesday aren't good days for me doing wise as it's yoga Tuesday and Pilates Wednesday which means I get home later than usual and by the time I've had a bath, cooked and cleaned up it's pretty much time for bed. To be honest I could do with waiting a couple of weeks to book the theatre as have had a lot to pay out recently, plenty of tickets left at the moment and it's not on until March.
All ok here at the moment just shattered - yawn.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Just caught up with your diary. What a rotten few weeks you have had - what with Mr SA's shower episode et al.
Men in Sheds sounds an excellent idea if Mr SA is amenable. It's difficult because he's quite anti social isn't he. If you could just get him down there he may find a new lease of life and enjoy some male company. Also, as some have mentioned, do you think your SIL and OH would take him out for the odd day? She knows how stressful it can be for you so do you think she would help on the odd occasion and give you a break?
I also think that keeping the carer's allowance for you is a good idea. Perhaps put it towards the Benidorm tickets. And if Mr SA is adamant he's not going, then get one ticket and go yourself!

The "men in sheds" reminds of the old blokes in the late great Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld books who were all veterans of various wars and got up to all sorts of inventive mischief in their sheds...
Apparently he was working on a series of stories for them, unfortunately his illness and his passing put an end to it... would have loved to have read their continuing adventures as they reminded me so much of my Granda and his old palsBUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron
It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Well I spoke too soon about everything being ok.
Almost immediately after I last posted Mr SA had a bad toilet accident
Then yesterday I made a veg lasagne for me and Mediterranean chicken for Mr SA, put them in the oven then went off to have a bath knowing that when I got out they would be ready to eat. Wrong!
The oven had tripped the fuse and everything was still uncooked. Flicked the fuse switch on it went bang
Anyway the upshot is they can't get out until Monday to fix it. To be honest it's partly my fault as the same thing happened earlier this year, the fan oven element had gone and apparently you're meant to turn on the grill from time to time to burn off the grease etc in the oven. I forgot
Cooked the lasagne in my combi-microwave tonight - it was really nice. Mr SA's chicken was cooked in the slow cooker. We can manage for the weekend to be honest. Mental note - I must remember to turn the grill on occasionally.
On the plus side got £20 in vouchers from work for helping out at a meeting last weekI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I hope it's not too expensive to mend your cooker. Sorry about Mr SA's toilet accident
. Have a good weekend.
