Is there a reason you don't take a scooter out with you?

Also, how do you work out where to hire one from in different countries?

I got a scooter for a family member after hiring one a few times in the UK and so far there's a resistance to taking it abroad with us. I had to borrow a manual chair and do some pushing at a large venue so I feel its worth thinking about taking something with us. But it's hard telling someone what is best for them, so would appreciate knowing a bit more about your thoughts and experiences.
His own scooter is far too large to take with us. However I’ve seen a lot of people with the small fold up types taking them abroad. Seems you have to dismantle the battery and take it on board while the scooter itself goes in the hold. I believe there are regulations about the batteries. I don’t know if you can hire a scooter in the UK and take it abroad, my main concern would be what happens if it breaks down, which is why we hire when we get there.

As we tend to go to places we’ve been before we use the same suppliers. If you Google mobility scooter hire for the resort you’re going to it usually comes up with a few options. Trip Advisor is also a good resource.

I would also advise researching your accommodation to ensure there is an accessible place to charge up the scooter. We stayed in one hotel where there was no accessibility into hotel reception to charge one up.

    I hope this helps.

Took the dog on the park this morning and when we got back there was no electricity in the kitchen. Tried to reset the trip fuse but it wouldn’t budge. Switched off everything at the plug, switched off all the trip fuses and main switch, turned it all back on and switched all sockets back on one by one. Managed to locate the source of the problem, it was the pond pump blowing the fuse. Surprise surprise Mr SA was coincidentally fiddling about with it yesterday 😩 Switched it on again just to prove to him it was the source and it blew again. Reset all the electrics again and told him not to switch it on again, then went outside to do some gardening. Five minutes later he shouted me in as the electrics had blown again, yes he’d ignored me and switched the pond pump on again 🤬 He won’t have it that it’s something he’s done. The pump cost a fortune and is the size of a Henry Hoover so if he’s bu**ered it up I won’t be happy.

Anyway that aside, have done lots of garden clearing, done a meal plan for next week and finished reading my current book, One August Night by Victoria Hislop (picked up from the hotel book swap).

I’m just about to make a batch of spiced carrot and lentil soup for work lunches before recommencing the garden tidying. Tonight’s dinner is the last portion of nut roast from the freezer with lots of veg.

Today is NSD 1 of September.

Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow but it has to be done ☹️

@Buffythedebtslayer there’s a switch in the kitchen that’s for the covered garden socket where the pond pump is plugged in. My next step is to identify whether it’s the pump itself or the outdoor socket. The circuit breaker is a great idea thanks assuming it will fit in the covered box outside.

Oh dear to the comment to the assistance person.  I suppose Mr SA thinks it and says it without filtering.
Glad you had a nice holiday.  You might get a bit of peace while you are at work.

Our pond pump once shorted out and made the water live. We only discovered it when Mr LH put his hand in the water. It did discourage the local cats from trymg to fish for a bit as we couldnt sort it straight away because we were going on holiday the next day. The current wasnt enough to hurt them just deter.
