Does Mr SA have any friends from before his illness that keep in touch ? Could he spend time with them so you could have downtime occasionally.

My ex husband had a stroke some years after we divorced , we get on fine and have days out with DGD together but there are things he can't do , it affected his left arm and hand . That is hard enough to do for a few hours helping him.
I really don't know how you juggle all your plates , I would be in bed at 8pm every night. At least the holidays are coming up again soon something to look forward to.

I admire your strength and tenacity .

Me too. But I agree with everyone else. I think you need a wee bit time to yourself.

As far going out to the pub with men. I gave up because talking about football all day is so boring.

    Happy Saturday :)

Cumbria he lost touch with his friends years ago. A couple of them have passed away :( An old work friend rings him from time to time and has offered to come and see him even though he lives a fair distance away. Mr SA told him not to bother. He's not really a sociable person, never has been. Now he's got brain damage he sometimes says inappropriate or very blunt things which makes people wary of him. I tried to get him interested in joining a local grumpy old men club which meets up once a week but he wasn't interested, dismissed it as being full of old codgers.

Decided to cave in and switch the heating on to find the boiler displaying an error code. Had to contact the heating engineer who fitted it, luckily he came out this morning and it was just an outside pipe that had been knocked when we had the new back gate fitted. Then he noticed one of our pond fish had a swollen swim bladder and put some salt and frozen peas in the pond which he says will cure it. So all sorted. Didn't make it to WW again though.

Had my hair cut this lunchtime, just a trim. This afternoon Mr SA has painted the ceiling coving in the living room and I've made a start on the walls. We'll get some more done tomorrow. It took Mr SA ages as he had to keep resting. He's gone for a sleep now. Annoyed me when he said I could get a lot more done if I wasn't always out. I reminded him I work full time plus have all the cooking and housework to do. He inferred I only did 4 days last week as the Birmingham trip was a jolly

Anyway looking forward to watching Strictly and X Factor tonight with a glass or two of cava and my feet up. The reality is I'll probably be fast asleep after the first glass!

You truly are a saint. I dread to think what I'd have done to him by now.

  • In the old days of Daily Chat SA we had the "frying pan" which would be passed to which ever member needed it the most. I think you have had the gold plated 16 inch edition.

Regular trips to Birmingham, do look at Meetups, and please take regular time for yourself.

  • Had to laugh at Mr SA referring to the club as full of old codgers :rotfl:

Glad you got sorted with the boiler too. Good that you realised before the cold weather comes xx

Having a quick break for lunch before re-commencing the painting. I'm painting the ceiling Mr SA is holding the paint tray from a chair. The aim is to get the ceiling done by early afternoon as I still have the cleaning, finances and cooking to do. The walls will have to wait until next weekend although Mr SA says he might have a go in the week.

As predicted I fell asleep just before the end of Strictly. Will watch X Factor this afternoon while painting. I think the week just caught up with me. At least there's plenty of cava for tonight :)

    See you later ...
