My gp uses an on line system to order. You cannot order by phone. It generally works pretty well. The same cannot be said for boots. I have tried to collect over a week after the order went in and still not ready. I frequently have to wait while they do it and get it checked.3

I finally got through to the chemist and they're delivering his meds tomorrow. No such luck with the doctors, it rings then says unable to take your call right now, been doing it all day 😣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4

About 6 years ago I had a huge row with Boots Pharmacy, Southport, when they didn't have a prescription filled on time for my mum's heart medication, despite having a week to fulfil the prescription. I'm not quick to complain, but I just kept getting louder and louder in a busy store. Eventually the manager "found" a week's supply although I had to go back the following week for the rest of the prescription... which wasn't available.
I took this up with the General Pharmaceutical Council, https://www.pharmacyregulation.org/content/our-role
They visited the pharmacy, reviewed their processes and found them lacking, and ordered changes to their processes.
In contrast, our local pharmacy is very proactive, and our GP orders prescriptions online which are fulfilled either in full the same day, or in part with the remainder of the prescription being delivered the next day. They are always very cheerful, and always happy to deliver a prescription to you (although we usually opt to collect). What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?6 -
We went through a phase of trying different chemists. I collect - but one in particular never had a full compliment of tablets and I’ve seen him ‘borrowing’ from customer packets - he never knew where he was up to. He had a real moan as at the time I was on Napraxon and he got his catalogue out to show me how he was loosing money on me. Needless to say I went elsewhere but they weren’t much better. Now I’m not working I’ve gone back to my old original chemist from which I changed because they weren’t open on a Saturday, which was awkward when I was working. The chemist that said I was costing him money shut down. I just phone when I’m getting low - they get it from the doctors and I pick up 👍January spends - £587.585

Well I've never heard of that before. I suspect he was on the fiddle & for most people who were paying for their prescriptions if they were less than the script cost he was keeping the money/difference.
