There are loads of people catching Covid at the moment.

I can't think of a time during this pandemic when we have had more people that we know who have it. Thankfully they all seem to have had mild symptoms and mild cases so far.

For all the people who have it and the positive tests there are many more walking around completely unaware they have even caught it!

I will be happy if the other half makes it through today and tomorrow at work without catching it and then we can limit our contacts over Christmas and New Years and enjoy ourselves.
  • Oh dear you do seem to know  a lot of people down with Covid.  Stay safe.
It would be easier to count the ones who don’t have it at the moment. Thankfully most of them seem to have a mild version more like a bad cold.
Hopefully this awful pandemic has run its course then although there still seem to be lots of hospitalisations so I guess some are badly affected.  Presumably the unvaccinated I guess.

There was an article in the news last week, I can't find it now, but in London which had seen a surge in hospitalisations earlier than other parts of the country, 90% of the Covid patients were unvaccinated and the vast majority of the remaining 10% had underlying health conditions.

Well there is an advert to get the booster jab if nothing else.  My 32 year old DD2 got hers this morning.  The rest of us are done but we have friends the same age as us (early 60s) who have  had none.  I almost hope they get it to stop the rubbish they are spouting about it.

I had a text from the NHS yesterday to say if I test positive for covid I may be offered one of the new drugs. This is due to a medical condition I have. Hopefully it's an offer I won't need.

Supposed to be going to DS2 and his family for Xmas dinner, but one of DDIL family who were also going has now tested positive. Everything up in the air at the moment. Haven’t even done my food shop yet as DH booked the car into the garage today for a minor repair and they have just told us it won’t be ready till tomorrow. Could be jam sandwiches for us the way things are going.xx

Mr SA had a letter to the same effect. They’re sending him a PCR test to do if he gets symptoms.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)

    Me too

    My PCR test arrived today.

Still can't decide how to play Christmas. There should be 7 of us, 4 of whom are vulnerable and 2 are students who have been out and about. One is doing lateral flow tests every day because of a contact at university before he left. Day 8 and negative so hopefully that's ok. My inclination is that everyone takes a lateral flow test on Christmas Eve for better or for worse but at least 2 family members are now very anti-testing without symptoms now and believe its time to just get on with it. Tricky

Yes they are sending a PCR test but not here yet.
I am so glad we are on our own for Christmas as usual. It saves all the worry.
