On another note, whilst at the doctors, I tried to book Mr SA in for the large lump that’s appeared on his head. Receptionist gave me a date for 19th January. Told her he had a history of brain tumour and maybe a tad more urgent. Her response was to phone in at 8am Monday. They never answer their phone, it’s a bone of contention locally. Something needs to be done, they consistently use Covid as an excuse to give a shoddy service 😡
You could not make it up.
    That's dire.

This whole trying to see a doctor is getting a bit weird.  We used to be able to get to see a doctor the same day, except sometimes on Mondays, now its someone will ring you tomorrow & see if you need an appointment.  But then my annual blood test used to take the best part of a month to book & now its less than a week.  Plus when you go you have to stand outside & wait until they are ready to see you.  I nearly froze to death.

I am supposed to get my blood pressure checked due to one of my medications.
    It has never been done!

Exactly the same here. For both our doctors - I left mum's cos it is so rubbish. Since covid mine is identical.

Mum has to have hers checked - the receptionist told me to do it. I have a blood pressure monitor and an oxygen monitor and I use both on mum. She had a medical review a month a go - well it was due and we were running low on meds, they had no appointments, receptionist said they would stop the meds till she had a check up, I pointed out I had tried to get an appointment and she almost said well it is luck of the draw but stopped herself!! "luckily" Mum had to go to hospital and they did it, and that only happened cos I kicked up the most almighty fuss about her running out of meds. The urgent care doctor was lovely!!
    Nevertheless she persisted.

I'm doing alright then, its only 3 yrs since my last annual blood test.  The original one of that series was because I knew something was wrong, so I just rang & booked.  A few years ago I could tell exactly which presciption the test request would come on.
Beanie do you test your own blood pressure?  If not you ought to push them.
    Sorry for the hijack SA!

Me and DH had boosters on Tuesday, I just had a sore arm, whilst DH has been in bed suffering(I’ve enjoyed the peace and quiet tho). Hope you are fine with yours. I dread the thought of having to go to the doctors, you have to ring at 8 in the morning, then if you are one of the lucky few to book a GP phone call, you then spend the day waiting for the GP to ring you. He will then question you and then decide whether you actually go to the surgery and see him in person.xx

  • @amber03. Our surgery is exactly the same - except that you can never get through and desperate people end up taking themselves to A and E. At A and E, the minimum waiting time is five hours.

Kill two birds with one stone - park private clinic in town for the gp appointment, I’ve seen them a few times and they are really nice then take him for a coffee and the bomber jacket on the way home for a treat. You’ll make his day. Honestly mate it’s a primark jacket going to cost you very little to keep him happy thought you were going to say he’d seen it in Flannels tbf. Might look a bit of a !!!!!! but up to him really lol.
