That many lights would probably be enough for a landing pad!!

I’ve had a very stressful day today, so much to do at work and home and time seems to be running away with itself.DIL has had a parking fine from a private parking company for overstaying in a car park. She was having coffee with friends and lost track of time. The car park permitted stay was 90 minutes and she went over that. The fine went to their previous address even though her car is registered to where they live now. The reminder also went to the previous address. The company are now saying she owes them £50 original fine plus interest so now owes £180, the letter says she can’t appeal it’s too late. I know this isn’t right and have pointed her to this website to find advice. Surely if they sent the fine to the wrong address twice it’s their fault 🤬I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

I believe it is only an invoice anyway not a fine. Not that it helps much but as you told her there is a lot of info on here about them. Wish I'd known that over 30 years ago when I got mine. There is a private car park near here that has a bush planted in front of the parking restriction notice - they will do anything.

The plumber cancelled but is coming tomorrow instead. On the plus side this means I need to WFH tomorrow instead of going into the office, suits me just fine 🥳
Mr SA had a similar fine, he must’ve been ill at the time, we just didn’t realise, he went to an out of town retail park to pick up some tool bits for work and fell asleep in his van. They knocked the fine down to £30 which we paid but probably shouldn’t have done.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)4 -
I've had plenty of these; leave it until they send a court summons which they never have so far for me. They just send really dumb letters demanding payment saying they'll 'take action'... until they don't. Fwiw if it did get silly so long as you pay before the court date or I believe within 30 days of the judgement you won't actually get a CCJ on your record.
Let me guess iirc your son and DIL live in Mansfield area so I'm guessing it was St Peter's Retail Park or Sports Direct opposite. If so I've had letters coming from them for over a year - just ignore it.
Ones from NCC/ other local authority don't ignore just pay at discounted rate.5 -
What a pain about the parking fine. That sort of thing just throws the day out of kilter. Someone I know got one because he drove through a car park as a short cut to visit someone: she didn't park there at all but drove through it on the way home and the camera picked up her number plate. Really not fair.
I did jury service and found it very interesting, but one of my main memories years later is that there was a huge jigsaw to keep people busy while they waited to be called. My MiL didn't enjoy her jury service as she had a nasty case but mine were just interesting.
I bet the lights look lovely! 500 sounds masses but it's surprising how many a tree will take up.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Happy Thursday, it's my Friday today as I'm on leave tomorrow.
Thank you for all the comments about DIL's parking letter. I can't believe they were thinking of paying the full £180! What a scam these private parking companies are on to because there will be people who will fall for it.
Got yet another busy work day, lots of things to do I wanted to get done yesterday but didn't.
I've got as far as lights and most of the baubles on the tree, getting there very slowly. I usually put the tree up the first Saturday/Sunday in December but the GKs are coming this weekend and are looking forward to seeing it.
I need to check with my friends that tomorrow is still going ahead as I will need to book train tickets if so. I hope it is as I particularly love to catch up with them, we always have a nice time. I should get an hour or so in the city centre for a coffee and quick look round the shops before I catch the train.
It won't be a no spends day as I'm going to Lidl on my lunch break. I've got a £10 voucher to spend and need to pick a few things up.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3 -
It’s definitely one of those weeks. The train on the route to my friend’s is on strike tomorrow so we’re having to reschedule 😩 Still taking the day off though, might even nip in town first thing.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)3

What a pity about having to cancel your trip. Enjoye your day anyway.
I’ve heard of so many people doing jury service recently. One had just come out of hospital and was gutted they had to cancel as they weren’t up to it. Another had a particularly gruelling case that made mainstream news…..they were all warned previously and asked if they wanted to continue with it….my friend did, but it really upset them. I’ve never been called and not sure if I want to or notJanuary spends - £587.584 -
We were just talking about jury service earlier today at work. Considering it is supposed to be randomly picked we know loads of people that are up for it at the moment.4
