I just received a message from a researcher:

You have been asked to return your submission for "A study about bowel cancer screening & colonoscopy (ver 2)" for the following reason(s):

    • Thank you for your interest in our survey.

Unfortunately, your responses to our screening questions meant that you were unable to complete the survey. Please return at your soonest convenience.

Whilst it is doubtless true that their screening questions identified me as ineligible for the study, they did regardless return me to Prolific with a valid completion code (after only a couple of questions), and my understanding is that this type of in-study screening is not allowed by Prolific. Not worth getting into an argy-bargy over something that took about 20 seconds, so I've returned it, but have also reported it to Prolific.

    A follow-up message has arrived:

Thank you for participating in our survey. Your responses to our initial screening questions meant that you were not able to complete the full survey. We are paying you for your participation, nonetheless, as it has come to our attention that Prolific no longer allows researchers to screen individuals within their survey. We apologise for any confusion previous communication may have caused and would like to thank you once again for your participation. Best regards, Rob (on behalf of the study team)

I have not yet received any payment however, so have messaged back asking them to confirm that I will receive it despite having done as they asked and returned my submission.

<edit> I just received the payment. So a happy ending, for me anyway!

A study about credit card applications

In this study, we will provide you with 5 'profiles'; for each one, we would like you to imagine that you are this person and this information about you is true. You should then imagine that you have applied for a credit card and have just received a decision from the credit provider on whether your application has been accepted or rejected. You will also be provided with an explanation of how an algorithm was used to assist in deciding the outcome of your application. We will ask you some questions about the outcome of each credit card application, the algorithm's decision-making, as well as how you felt about the information you saw. You will be eligible for a bonus payment for some of the questions, if you answer them correctly and complete the study in full.

I'm doing a 3 month study, 3 times a week paying £2.25 for about 10 minutes each go, will total over £80 by the end.

And another study that is 56p every Monday, that seems to be going on forever.

I received an email this morning saying a £1.50 study I did a couple of days ago has been approved, and quoting my new balance as £5.90. I went to cash out, but on the Prolific website my balance is still showing as £4.40, i.e., the £1.50 payment has not been added. The study is showing as "Approved" on my submissions page, but it appears the payment has not been made, despite the email showing the post-payment balance. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? If so, how did you sort it out?
<edit> Since posting, it appears £1.50 has been deducted from my "Waiting for approval" balance (it's gone from £10.35 to £8.85), but not added to my withdrawable balance. I'm £1.50 down. I hope it's just a temporary glitch and gets fixed soon, because I don't want to have to waste my time chasing it up.
  • My balance on the dropdown isn't showing correctly today either - I did a study and the approval email does give the correct balance.  Must be a glitch at the moment.

The balance not updating issue appears to be affecting everyone.

Hopefully they will be aware and fix it soon.

Had another one approved that hasn't been reflected in my balance, so now I'm missing £3.10. It had better be temporary.

In this study I will ask you to watch some videos and answer questions about your experience. If you are able to answer some questions correctly, you could earn a bonus!

Note: The videos in this study are about weight loss. If viewing content about weight loss may negatively affect you, please refrain from participating in this study.

I answered a couple of questions about which SM platforms I use then got dumped out with a completion code, followed by a message
