Seldom do studies last over 2 hours!

    I haven’t been offered it.

I started it and got about 15 minutes in before the reaction tracker failed. It wouldn't let me move on. I let the researcher know and got no response. I wouldn't even attempt this again if I saw another like this now!

My reaction is that if the first episode script takes over 2 hours to read, the first episode is too long. They can have that for free.

£16.00 sounds nice, but at £7.16/hr its not much, for the amount of effort involved. It involves creating an account with Betareader.

    I won't be doing it!

We're interested in your honest reaction to the latest draft of the first episode script and season 1 outline for the forthcoming TV show, HEREFORD.

This study is likely a little different to others you may have taken part in, so please read on to see how it works and check that you think the study is right for you:

    • To take part, if you don't already have a Betareader.io account, you'll need to create one so you can read the script and outline and provide feedback
    • The test takes up to 2 hours, with a significant proportion of that time taken up reading
    • You'll be able to provide feedback as you read, and then once you've fully read first the script and then the outline
    • We'll ask you to score various aspects of the characters and story as well as asking you to provide answers in your own words
    • We're looking for all feedback you can give, the good, the bad and the ugly, which we'll use to help improve the show

Please follow the instructions below to create an account with Betareader and start reading the script. We apologise in advance for the steps you have to go through – it’s not our platform so there’s only so much we can control!

    1. Follow the link in Prolific
    2. Click on “I want to read this”
    3. Click on “create account”
    4. Use your PROLIFIC ID and email address - NOT YOUR REAL NAME - to create an account. This is so we can identify and pay you at the end of the study. We may not be able to find you and pay you if you use your real name!

    • Your Prolific email address is your Prolific ID + @email.prolific.co.  For example, if your Prolific ID is 630ddb29ada2b86d8173856f, then your Prolific email address would be 630ddb29ada2b86d8173856f@email.prolific.co.
    •  You can find your Prolific ID by logging into Prolific, clicking on the circle (probably containing your initials) top right of screen, and then on Account, and under the section Your Details, you’ll find your Prolific ID

    5. Betareader will ask you some questions for your profile. You can answer these, or click “do this later” in the top right corner.

    6. NOTE: You do NOT need to verify your email address, even if Betareader asks you to.

    7. Then, back on the Hereford home page, please click “I want to read this” and “I just want to read”.

    8. We will need to approve your request manually, which we will do as quickly as possible, but may take up to an hour.

    9. IMPORTANT: You will need to refresh the page to see if your request has been approved.

    10. Then finally, click “read” to take you through to the script, outline and survey questions.

    Phew! Thank you!

All that for just over £7 an hour? No chance.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Annotating errors in the generated text - reward £6

You have to highlight errors for 20 examples. I’ve got to 19 and it glitched and wouldn’t let me finish the examples.
I  messaged the researcher who told me to submit anyway, and it paid out instantly.
just in case anyone else is doing it and has the same error.

Well done for getting to 19 elsien! I returned it when I was in the middle of number 9, as there was no way I was going to finish in time. I only had 11 minutes left on the Prolific timer. I took me ages! The data was complicated and impossible to memorise before comparing it to the text each time. I have messaged the researcher to see if they will compensate me for my time but I am expecting them to say no. Well done again elsien. I have brain ache and wish I had never started it!
