got a message that said i pressed the escape key after what was probably near the end and threw me out of it and then automatically restarted the study from the start. I gave up and returned it as im not going through another 40-50 minutes for a repeat.

I was thrown out after 40 minutes for a low score (75%). I messaged the researcher who was very apologetic that the study instructions had not been set up well and it was always the intention to pay with possibly a higher payment if getting through various stages. I completed the study and the full payment was approved within a minute. It looks like the message is being sent to all but just in case you do not receive it.

I want to apologize for all the confusion caused by my poor structuring of the 2-part task. This is my fault for not being clear in the instructions. Everyone will get compensated for time spent regardless of when the game stops. This instruction was buried in the task and not communicated clearly. I'm very sorry for the confusion caused!

Please reach out if you have any remaining questions and again very sorry for the way this was constructed. I sincerely appreciatae your patience and time taken to participate.

I'm wondering if the desktop/laptop request comes from the researcher using that machine themselves to prepare the survey, not being sure it would work on anything else, and it's just easier to get people to complete it using the same machine. It's not like there's a shortage of applicants for the studies.

Re Zoonosis study.

If anyone can help with a link to this study I'll really appreciate it.  I completed the study and it seemed to be problem free.  I received a Completion Code.  When I tried  to return to Prolific Studies a notice came up saying that my participation had been cancelled.

I am sure I was not timed out and I answered all the questions.  I have no way of contacting the Researcher and cannot remember the full title of the Study - it included information about The WHO.

It is a bit frustrating because I have reserved places on three studies this morning, clicked, attempted to start then. in all three studies, they had to be returned as already full.
  
I don't know why this has happened with this 'Zoonosis' one as I did not Return it or cancel my participation.

Any help will be appreciated, thank you.

Did anyone do 'Your reaction to the script of the forthcoming film WINK MURDER'? It says £12 for 148 minutes, but as it's on a different platform I wonder if that's the actual time it takes to complete, or is it closer to the researcher's description of 'up to 2h'?

I wonder if the site has a glitch today ? I signed up to a study and was taken immediately to the "complete study" page. After refreshing the page, closing the app and re-opening it, I managed to complete the study but it then wouldn't accept the completion code. Just stated "something went wrong, try again". Repeatedly.

I finally managed by shutting down the Prolific app again and re-opening the study which by now said study full. So I closed the page, re-opened it to find the completion code had been accepted.

I think there is. I signed up for a study, it immediately timed out, now it's going between "start study" "complete study" and "study completed" (with a random completion code). It won't let me leave the screen (tried cancelling participation but it just keeps running through the different steps)

That sounds like a very real possibility, thanks DiamondLil.  After making my post, above, I reserved a place on another study and, on that Study the little circle went round and round trying to access the first page of the Study.  Then a completion code appeared and I had not even reached the first page.

I have had no reply but, on that one, I did manage to send a message to the Researcher to let them know - as I don't want to be accused of cheating.

With whosthatrubi's experience as well it definitely sounds like a glitch.

I seem to be stuck in a loop, can’t complete or cancel one I am on. Just getting error messages

Prolific is going loopy today managed to start a study and complete it then received the message
Sorry but we could not find the submission or study that the completion code C19IVMG0 belongs to. Please verify you have the correct completion code and have an active submission already.
When going back to the study page I got the message timed out on refreshing the page I got the message study full there is no sign of the study in my submission list
Another one I haven't even started has now got a completion code without me even opening the study
