When the animation first appeared yesterday, it lacked the usual link to turn off the animation - so it's not necessarily your fault!

To be fair, that option wasn't there when the animation first appeared.

    Decision-Making Survey

    By pitt.edu

    This is an academic survey.

You will be asked to photograph an object and upload it. Thus, before proceeding, please ensure you are in your home and have access to a smartphone.

A bonus payment (of at least £0.5) will be granted to all valid responses.

Interesting idea for a study and I am glad that my flash works OK on my phone camera, as it was pitch black here when I took the photo of the object specified.

It did take a bit of hand acrobatics mind you, as you had to include one of your hands in the photo as well, I assume to prove that you did not download the image from the web, but as I discovered, my phone camera shutter button is not well placed for one handed operation.

It is 6.30 am at present and this is the second study completed this morning so far and I hope that the trend continues, as it has been very slow all week for me.

The only smartphone I have access to is my work one which I didn't really want to use, so I used my proper camera and it was easy enough to upload.

I have to say though, for reasons I can't share out of fairness to the researcher, that i really wish I had chosen something else to photograph!  Those who have done it can probably guess why!
I've had an email this morning - apparently I'm going to be paid £16 for a tatty sunhat that I spent £5 on originally.  That's a bit of a bonus!  (Shame it didn't go for the £100).
Hat collected by Royal Mail 2 weeks ago...£16 just gone into my account. No complaints from me!

Brilliant - what a great result. Wonder what they are going to do with a load of hats!

My £45 went in yesterday.  I did send the researcher a thank you.
  • Motor Reaching Task

I have just completed this task in 24 minutes.  The estimated time was 23 minutes so, for me, I was quite fast.  Although I enjoyed the task, having to track the blue ball, on a number of occasions I was asked to try faster.  I thought i was already being quite fast!

Did anyone else do this task and find the same?

Not this one, but I have done tasks in the past where I've been asked to speed up despite already feeling I was going as fast as I could, and I suspect this is a deliberate ploy to put the participant under extra pressure, in order to study how that affects their performance.
  • That makes sense,  thanks olliebean.  I am generally quite slow but, on this one, I thought I was doing quite well and definitely going as fast as I possibly could.
