faerielight said:got this message .. not sure what to do! : Dear participant, I am really sorry for the trouble but I accidently clicked bonus payment to all so you have received 0.4 pounds. I made an error about the payment and it cause a huge loss since I paid many participants. As a poor phd student, I can not handle such a huge loss. May I ask you a kind favor to return back the bonus payment 0.4 to me? I can not be more grateful for your kind understanding. Many thanks for your kindness.1

Testing ways to communicate uncertainty in data
By cam.ac.uk£3.96 • £9.94/hr23 mins1329 placesResearchers at the University of Cambridge are developing a range of infographics to help communicate numbers to support decision-making in a range of military situations. They’re looking for people willing to take part in an online survey. It will take about 25-30 minutes and you will be paid £3.96 for participating. You must be aged 18 or over to take part.
You will be shown infographics predicting deaths and injuries from a chemical leak and asked to answer questions about them. They will also give you some short puzzle questions and ask some demographic details about yourself. If you think these infographics might be disturbing for you, please do not take part.
If you are interested in taking part please click the link below to see more details, and a consent form which you can sign if you would like to take part.
Devices you can use to take this study:
I just attempted this study but after the first page it ended and returned to prolific with a completion code so says 'awaiting review'. I have contacted the researcher to explain what has happened and I will likely have to return the study.Just my luck, the first decent study for a while and I have a technical problem.Edit - one thing that I noticed that on the first page of the study it stated:"You will receive payments of £4.75 for taking part. If you withdraw from the survey part way through you will not receive payment for your participation".Obviously more than the £3.96 quoted.
And yes, I noticed the cost discrepancy as well. I'm still awaiting review, but it's marked for the moment at £3.96After waiting for 24hrs I have had no reply from the researcher so sadly have returned the study.I was hoping a link would be sent for me to complete the study as has happened on occasions in the past. The study scarcity continues today and it makes me wonder if they have been potching with the algorithms again. At this rate I will be looking to Qmee to pay for my weekly curry and wine.0 -
Two for me today - 17p and 27p. Not even enough for a poppadum2

I had one of about £4.50 (can't access on my phone to confirm exactly) was marketed at 30minutes and took about 25. Also turned down another for 25minutes for £3 something as didn't have time. All on sentences/behaviours. Alongside a few others all under a £.
Algorithms today we're in my favour1 -
thanks molly and daisychain! i was a bit taken aback by the messageMany thanks to all who contribute on MSE0

Listen Up! Attending to Speech with Distractors 8.2
By andrew.cmu.edu£4.92 • £9.43/hr31 mins0 placesIn this study, you will be asked to listen to 2 competing sounds coming from 2 directions, and you will be asked to report the content of the sound coming from one direction.
I found this incredibly difficult! I failed the training, started another go and thought there is no way I'm going to be able to do this. I don't think I could have remembered the sequence of sounds even if i hadn't had distraction sounds coming in through my other ear. Did anyone else manage it?

5-min consumer survey
By Anna Travolta£0.54 • £8.07/hr4 mins0 placesThis consumer survey will take you about 4-6 mins. The survey includes open-ended questions. Please concentrate and do not take a break during conducting the survey.Yesterday went well with a good number completed, then this one appeared. Looked pretty brief, but on the first page there was text box and you had to describe your average day in detail.Seen as that task would take longer than the complete completion time, I reluctantly had to return the study. Not the first time I have seen this type of thing, but I find it very annoying and my time is worth more than 54p.0
