I did this Study this afternoon.  I was glad of the opportunity because things have been really quiet for me on Prolific.  I found the Study hard going although there weren't any technical or other problems.

I am generally quite slow but this '32' minute Study took me all of 58 minutes to complete.  I was just pleased not to be timed out.

Has anyone else done this Study and managed it in 32 minutes?

Didn't see that one unfortunately, as I was out all day, but it has been so quiet of late that I would grab anything.  It has definitely been a trend recently to underestimate the completion time.

Let's all hope things start to get back to normal this week.

Not everybody gets offered the same studies.  Most of the time, potential respondents are selected based on the answers in their About You profile, and sometimes on the basis of which studies they have previously completed.  So it's not exactly the luck of the draw, but for sure you cannot guarantee that a study offered to X will also be offered to Y.

In this study, you will make a series of decisions in four separate tasks.

In addition to the compensation you get for participating, you will likely also get a bonus that depends on your decisions. The average bonus is approximately 1.5 GBP.

This study took me around 25 mins and was good fun if a bit repetitive.  My bonus payment was less than £1.50 but my luck is terrible at the best of times.

Saying that, I may not get anything as I have a funny feeling I missed the attention checks, ha, ha, soon find out.

I hope this does not count as a duplicated post - if so, I apologise.  I am waiting to hear from Prolific Support as I have been locked out of my account

(Error PEC-AS-0006: Your account has been locked). Please see my earlier post on 'Boost your Income.'  I'm hoping 'Locked' is not the same as 'On hold' because I can only find reference (on Google or Proflific Help) to On hold and nothing about locked - PEC-AS-0006.

I'm hoping that Prolific will be able to let me know soon.  I have just had a new study notification on Chrome in my laptop but was too slow to reserve the last place.  Although still locked out of Prolific on my Laptop, in my Tablet and on my Moto G7 Power smartphone it looks as if, when available, I may still be able to access studies on my laptop in Chrome.

That is very frustrating I must say and it looks like a new error code.

The only information that I could find was someone on another Prolific forum who experienced the same error code in August, stated that support informed them it was caused by the 'Google reCAPTCHA not being able to distinguish between human and bot when I try to login'.

If the above is correct then it is good in that it is not anything you have done wrong just another idiosyncrasy to torment 'us'.

I would anticipate that this is a situation that many of us will experience in the near future, so it would be good to find out exactly what is causing the error, how to avoid it and how to resolve the problem.

Unfortunately it looks like you will most likely have to sit tight until your request reaches the top of the queue and that may depend on how busy Prolific support are.

Hopefully it will not be too long but please keep us updated.

Thanks very much for your helpful reply, yupiteru.  It is reassuring.

It happened out of the blue but thankfully, although no new studies notifications, with places available in Chrome on my Laptop, I am able to log in there.   There is no 'reCAPTCHA' box on Chrome on my Laptop so maybe that's why I can log in there.

If I hear anything I'll definitely post back.

    • The general methodology of this project includes participants being asked questions about the extent to which they experience common cognitive failures in everyday life. Participants may also be asked questions about how they think and feel about others, their mood (including the extent to which they have experienced depression, anxiety, and stress in the past week), and their video game playing habits. Participants may also be asked basic demographic information, such as age, gender, native language, country of birth, and handedness. You may decline to answer any questions that you do not wish to answer. Participants may also be asked to perform cognitive tasks, such searching for and/or responding to a target visual stimulus, remembering information, and mental arithmetic. The nature of their responses (including accuracy and speed) will be recorded.
    • To complete the study, you will need to download Inquisit player when prompted. For this, you will need: Windows 10 and higher or Mac OS X 10.13.6 and higher. More info about Inquisit player and its requirements can be found here: https://www.millisecond.com/download/inquisitweb6

Woke up this morning to an e-mail from Jim directing me to this one.  Imagine my disappointment when I realised I would have to download Inquisit player to complete the study.

Unfortunately Inquisit player will not install on the laptop that I have installed Linux mint on, that I use just for Prolific, so I had to pass on this one.

I do have a couple of Windows laptops I could press into service but they run Windows 7 so they do not meet the requirements either.

Luckily the situation is a very rare occurrence but still a pity to miss out on £6.00.

That is disappointing, yupiteru.  Hope there are more studies for you today.

Inquisit 6 runs on Windows 7, as well as way back to Windows XP - see https://pcmac.download/app/1454428461/inquisit-6.  Perhaps, if such circumstances arise again, you could download Inquisit first, so that when the study requires it you aren't obliged to download it through them.
