Yeah thanks. I didn't want to go for too much structure because my son is the one who will not sit down - not even for pass the parcel - he would rather dance in the middle!!!

I just want him to have fun and make it a bit special and out of the norm so he knows that he is having a special treat.

All you will need are large empty boxes of various sizes and some balloons.

Lots of space and some music!

What Charlotte says is a great idea - 2 is too young for them to want to sit down and play games, just loads of space and some toys and balloons is a great idea.

Also for party bags, how about a little book each - like a little alphabet or picture book - wrapped up, a balloon to take home and a piece of cake.

We're doing the same in December. I was thinking the only game they could probably manage would be statues. My son and his friend love the STOP GO game, where they dance and run when I say GO and try to stay still when I say STOP. It's really good fun and I'm going to start getting them to do it to music so it'll be even more fun at party time.

I'm going to put up balloons and streamers and fold the dining table away so they can have a push or trundle toy per child. (We'll be borrowing a couple from people coming.)

If we're not completely exhausted by then, I was thinking about getting the table back up and letting them all have a splash with the paint. So they're being told to wear old clothes. No party gear!

didnt really need to have anything planned to enterain them, just some music, cbeebies on in the background and some toys, sorted!!

Actually, I've decided to definitely do the painting thing, and it's going to be on a huge strip of lining paper to let them all have a go and stick on my son's wall afterwards to remind him.

For party gifts, what about bubbles. Kids love bubbles. Also why not sit in a circle and do some action songs, wind the bobbin up, if your happy and you know it etc.

We took the same approach to our two year old's birthday - he had balloons, and I decorated the table with a Thomas the Tank Engine cloth and plates, and gave the kids some little sandwiches, fairy cakes and fresh fruit. He got a slide for his birthday so everyone just played around on that. We put out lots of toys and they all seemed to have a great time.

The adults had wine, and we did "grown up" food for them, and treated it as a bit of a party for us as well.
