we hired a local hall for our 4 year old and played a load of games and put on some snacks, the kids loved it as they hadn't been to that type of party before.

The playbarn/indoor play is also a good one, we also locally have a fire engine which comes and the kids can do all sorts of fire man related things for about the same cost.

but our 3 y/o has asked to have a party like her sisters, as shes been to loads of the indoor play places......

It also worked out alot cheaper as the hall was only a 10.00 for the two hours

My nephews used to have their birthdays at Brewsters (or are they called Breyers Fayre? ) It's the one that has the Fun Factory attached. It's about £6 per head and for that, they get a meal which consisted of things like pizza wedges, chicken nuggets, chips, onion rings, ice cream etc. They also get to play in the fun factory. Someone also dresses up and hands out party bags and balloons to the children. I think you also get a free birthday cake thrown in if you book for a minimum number of children (Can't remember how many!)

Wacky Warehouses attached to pubs also run children's parties - they get an hour or so of play in the indoor play area, then games and food, balloons, party bags, cake etc. Excellent for boisterous kids but not the most tasteful of places (but then if you're 4, who'se bothered about tasteful?). See below for list of locations.

Before you criticise a man, walk a mile in his shoes. Then, when you do criticise him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes.
  • Hi Have just taken 6 teenagers(14) ten pin bowling with a meal and drink included for £65.They had a great time! Birthday boy got a £10 music voucher too! Sure 12 year olds would enjoy this.

  • Just noticed in Aldi that they're selling a book for £2.49 called "501 party games for kids". It's split into themes (cowboy, circus, science, magic, world traveller, etc. etc.) and covers decorations, what to include in party bags, invitations, other stuff - might be useful for inspiration...

I'm sure this is not the right board for this, so my apologies in advance, but I've asked advice from the OldStylers before and they've come up trumps for me! (They do say that flattery will get you everywhere :D )

DD is going to be 13, 3 days before Christmas! It's always a difficult time of year to organise a birthday party as it's so close to Christmas and it's in winter so our options are always limited. But this year is even more difficult because as she is becoming a teenager (well officially anyway because unofficially that happened two year ago at least!!!) so I'd like it a bit special. I also want it cheap!

So far she's rejected all of my ideas: cinema outing (done it), theatre (done it), paintballing (we're girls not boys!), pamper party (not really her style), restaurant (might be an idea)

So I would love to have your ideas on this. I need something quite original if poss and not to expensive!

    Thanks

  • Buy some Tesco basic jeans & T-shirts, fabric pints and iron on jewels, they can design their own fashion range! :D

  • Thanks for all your suggestions! She's done the ice-skating and wasn't too keen on the fashion range, but Mado she loved your idea of a cooking party... to my surprise actually!! Now it's got to be approved by the rest of the gang! Fingers crossed... I'm wondering whether I should put my foot down and say it's her party after and she can do what she wants (I might even break into a song!!)

So it's a big thank you to you all and a big Merci Beaucoup to Mado!
