  • saw something in Boots today reduced that I thought would be good for a 13 year old boy ......... 2 remote controlled robots (looked a bit like tanks) - they electronically zap each other and when you hit the other persons tank they get an electric shock throuhg their own remote control unit !! Bit hard to explain ..and maybe a bit sadistic yes..but it looked great boys toy fun! It was not babyish - picture on box was of men using it. It was some silly price originally (£60 ish but dont quote me) now £20.00. Really good. Also they had a science museum clock that you record your own wake up call for - "get up 13 year old chav ..time for school!!" I bought one of those - 15.00 down to 3.75 ! I dont know any ideas for a funny cake to make but you could have a funny picture of him printed on a cake in Tesco or Asda. ahhh 13 year old boys ....lovely !
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)

Mae, thanks so much for the post about the bubble machine. I have just reserved one for us to collect. My OH has been on about getting one of these for ages, but at £4.99 you can't go wrong!!

Also, purplepurple, the ideas for what to put in party bags is great. I like the idea of the cd and windmill. Not followed the links yet, but will do tomorrow.

Anyway, off to bed as at work tomorrow, yuk! I've just posted on the discussions board about one of the adults asking about booze. Not a happy bunny!!

What about taking 2-3 friends ten-pin bowling? That seems to appeal to all ages.

Or buy tickets for him to take 2-3 friends to a football match or pop concert.

Or have 2-3 friends sleep over with hired videos and pizzas of their choice.

Not sure about a cake or present though.
Here I go again on my own....
  • How about a Cinema Party (click here) and then a meal afterwards? You could deliver the cake to the restaurant beforehand (we went to an ace party at the Noodle Bar a while ago) and then they could bring it out and get all the staff to stand there and sing happy birthday, really loudly, to him..... just what a 13year old would like :rotfl:

Great suggestion Becles - we've been to bowling parties and they're great fun, the kids can stay seperate from the adults but then you can all eat together afterwards.

*ooops just read your original post properly... forget the cinema then, just go for the embarrasing meal!

They can go paintballing at 13....but if he doesn't have many friends then I don't know how that would work out.
You could just have a few friends over to sleepover/ watch dvd/ have playstation or xbox tournament...any of the above.
  • My 11 year old son did not want a party.

Instead he had 4 friends to sleep over straight from school. We went to the Chinese all you can eat buffet (£3.99 for children) played computer games until midnight (normally limited to two hours a day so they thought this was great  ) then went swimming in the morning. This was followed by homemade pizza.

They went home at 3.00 on the Saturday so it was fun and different to what any of his friends had done as it was a 24 hour party but it was quite cheap to do.

    hi silverfox!

my son is 13 on 22nd jan. i have got him a new mobile, (he is still using a nokia 3310 under sufferance.) got him a samsung e350, small slider phone with camera etc £69.99 from o2student site, sorry don't know the link, but you'll find it on mobile phones board. alot of money i know, but as he's growing up, its also important to keep in touch with him.

as far as party, my son is having 3 friends round for a curry (£9.99 curry banquet from tesco is brill), watch a dvd or play xbox, then sleep over, they all bring sleeping bags and crash in his bedroom.

cake: last year i took the picture from the front of his favourite pc game (rome total war for interest) and had it scanned onto the top of cake at tesco's. asda also do the same, can't remember the exact cost of cake, but less than £10.

How about laser quest with a couple of mates?

As for the cake, what is he into? My son will be 13 New Years Eve (ages yet!), ideas for his cake is easy as he's into a few things, Liverpool, Guitars, Cricket etc

Present idea - depends how much you want to spend, I know they usually like things like Lacoste tracksuits (expensive!), PSP, Mobile phone, mini moto etc etc. I find it harder as they get older as every idea you have for them seems to cost a bomb!
If you're going to stalk me, while you're at it can you cut the grass, feed the dog & make sure I've got bread & milk in :D

How about taking him and a couple of friends to a dry ski slope if you have one near you.

As for the present I can only think of electronic gadgets eg. mp3 player, ipod, cd's, dvd's, phone.
