I'm in again please. Going to stick at £350 in case this month is a fluke!
Officially in a clique of idiots
  • Hi I'm in for £400 again, 1st-28th Feb.
Won't have as much freezer/store this month as it's mostly been used up during Jan.
Going to have to be inventive and try and reduce our snack use, not sure how best to do that as my kids also eat a lot of fruit so I can't really replace the malt loaf/biscuits/cake bars with that.

Okay, my friend is moving out this week - been with me for about 6 weeks in total - and I have drastically overspent (but had a generally nice time )!

I need to save as much as possible over the next month so I'm going to aim for £60 on groceries - allowing that I have a very full freezer, full cupboards and get fed at work 4 times next month (with the possibility of leftovers:p)
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

  • hello all,
can I be in for £150 this month please.
I've added in an extra £20 to what I previously budgeted for cos i'm doing dinner for a bunch of friends and don't want to skimp on anything.
  • Thanks for the new thread.

I'm still over on the January thread until the 31st but I'm going to try and stick with £390 for February, although we will be starting from virtually empty. I'll be doing it calendar monthly (1st to 28th this month).

Fingers crossed everyone has a good month!

Thanks to Coxy, zippy and lynnejk as always for running the thread.

I'm in for February with £200 please
This is from 26 Jan to 25 February.

I finally have a full year of grocery stats! So in 2017 I:

    - spent an average of £211.75 per month
    - spent a total of £2,541.02 on household items (not including alcohol or non-essential toiletires like make up)
    - was only under budget twice, and once was on it but that was an estimate

This is why I'm setting my budget now to £200 a month. I am going to have this budget every month this year. If I come under, I'll carry it over. It feels like too much but I obviously spent more than that last year so it is a reduction even though it *feels* like an increase!

I'm vegan, on Slimming World, and cook 99.9% from scratch. I do like to buy tofu and a few meat replacements like Linda McCartney sausages and Quorn vegan fajita and BBQ strips - these things bump my costs up. I also tend to bulk buy cleaning products as I use Ecozone which isn't available in all supermarkets so I order online.

    Good luck everyone!
