We don't use the f*** word on here :naughty: as it's a learning curve and you will find it becomes easier as you go along so long as you're making an effort. Good luck

    Evening folks

Thank you Zippy and Coxy for running the thread again :D

I'm in for my usual £200 for the month from 1st to 28th. This is for DH and myself and is for all groceries, cleaning, laundry and general toiletries.

We're still on the January thread until the end of the month.

    Good luck everyone

Please can you put me down for £344 for February.

I am budgeting for 4 weeks at £75/week and £11/week for school dinners.

We had a good result in January and still have plenty in the cupboards and freezer. I have enough wine and gin to last this month (and next:eek) :)

My budget includes all food for me, DH and DS(7) including DS school meals, toiletries, hair dye, booze, dog food, laundry and cleaning. DS has his tea at DMIL during the week :)

I have visitors for 1 weekend this month but as we will be eating our mail meal out (different budget) this shouldn't have too much of an impact if I don't go buying lots of fancy breakfast and lunch things.

I would also like to scrape a little bit from the budget to start a bulk buy fund so I can stock up on good deals on coffee etc.

As my budget starts tomorrow I best go to my meal plan and shopping list :)

    Good luck everyone :)

We too have two sets of weekend visitors this month. That’s a good point about not going overboard buying extra special items just for them. I tend to overcater for people/events and have been trying to scale back for the last year.

You also make me wonder if I should start putting aside money each month for a bulk buy/stock up fund so I don’t get thrown off. How much are you thinking of putting away each month?

I still need to total up how much we’ve spent this month. I’ll do this tonight hopefully. In February we’ll need to stock up the meat in the freezer so that’s going to take up a lot of the budget. Also used a lot of cupboard items up so may also need to do a big stock up shop. The only quick meals we really have are pizzas in the freezer, other than that we cook from scratch. Need to come up with a few new meal ideas next month. Our budget is £150. Good luck everyone 😊.

Our circumstances have recently changed (less income). I didn't feel like we were massively overspending on the weekly shop, but reading around this site, I can see with a little effort we can cut our costs and still eat/ live well. I'm looking forward to the challenge.Where dinners can be frozen I'm aiming to make extra portions to also reduce workload.

It would be great if you could put us down for £300 for February (starting 26th January). This is an estimate, but with the stuff I already have in the cupboard/ freezer, I know it is achievable. Budget is to include all food - breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, and all cleaning stuff/ toiletries. We'll see how we go and hopefully have a more accurate budget for next month.

Thanks to everyone for contributing- it's great to get real, achievable ideas on how we can save money.
