Remember when we all used cheques? The scammers (sorry, would-be scammers) got your signature as well! We even had to write our address on the back of a cheque. That dates me :-)

Clarkson didn't send his bank account number to a single business, he put his bank, and other identifying details, in the public domain and advertised that he had done so. A single prankster set up a direct debit to a charity - something he could clearly reverse. He wasn't wiped out of all his money despite the fact that his details were made available to all and sundry.

Yes im aware of the details.
It seems you are too, so why say that nothing can be done with those details except send a payment

I didn't say "nothing". I said "next to nothing". The devil is in the detail and I used that exact phrase because I knew that otherwise someone would find an example of the very rare occasions when misuse could occur. And you provided that example anyway. :D
  • This company are attending a 3 day event at Ski & Snowboard Festival in Battersea Park. I was there yesterday and experienced a very aggressive hard sell to entice me into buying goods for £30 at a massive reduction on the day. I declined the offer and glad I did having seen the above comments. If you’re going to the event don’t get scammed!!! The organisers should be able to provide traders information for you 👍
  • It might be a good idea to contact Companies House for further information on directors addresses etc. They appear to run an accountancy operation as well as retail.

Me and my wife was intrested in a click heat liquid pad thing, anyhow you click it inside and it heats up the liquid,

So we purchased it and a few other items for a £30, I had to barter and got him to drop his price a bit.

So, after the autosport event, we went home, my wife could not wait to try this item out soon as we got home, but to our shock the sealed plastic that the liquid is in has spilt and now unusable, So my wife E-mailed the company Called 'ClickHeat' that produced the product and we have had no reply.

So I have tried to find contact details for the company that sold it to us from the trade stand at the NEC, I personally see it as their problem, the company is called H & Z corporation ltd, it is owned by some israel folk.

I CANNOT find any contact details anywhere on the internet, just an address, but its 250 miles away from where I live, they're based in London, but I live up in Bolton, for what it would cost in fuel to return the item its not worth it.

So I'm at my wits end and annoyed about how a company can trade with next to no information on the internet, should I cancel the payment through our bank? we paid by credit card.

    What can I do next?

    Wits end over £30?

I'm not sure I'd spend much effort for a £30 spend, we'll all bought stuff at a Christmas fair or the ideal home exhibition etc and regretted it.

It was 9 months ago, I expect they've got over it now.

Or is their registered address their accountant, as is often the case.

I would be interested to know how you got on with Trading Standards as we also managed to lose £35 yesterday to this company at Bath & West show. I emailed the company in the EU and they offered to send me a replacement, something I do not want as they lied and told me it was suitable for what I wanted, interestingly by email to the EU was responded to from an email address in the US.
