  • You can stop them by not spending money until you have done a couple of minutes research with google on your phone. If I don't know a product/company producing them I always google, even in the middle of a shop. I remember, particularly with stalls, the people are there to sell, not necessarily tell the truth.

This could be a lesson learned incident. I suspect as others have suggested you are going to be putting a lot of work in and still not get your money. Leave reviews everywhere you can. Job done as much as you can.
  • If you used a credit card can you not get your money back through section 75? Worth a try

Not for £30, it's not. Minimum value is £100.

    Great advice!
I can't believe the number of people who spend money without checking out the company they're dealing with.

Maybe try this from an alternative angle.... they aren't coming back to you/your wife about a complaint.....

So... get someone else (with a different contact number) to get in touch with them and say how amazing they are... find out what shows they are going to be at next... once you have this information, go ahead and confront them face to face... and if you need to, take the ones that don't work and show their potential customers! I am sure they will soon come around to your way of thinking!

And the expense of travelling to another show and the time involved...
...all for this amount of money:

The item cost £30, I paid with credit card.

I might make a few calls (free for me), send a few emails and spend a bit of time on the 'net out of sheer bloody-mindedness but throw good money after bad....no way.

That's it word for word and including the misspellings.

So, I'm feeling dubious about emailing bank information across to some unknown and as far as I feel untrustworthy company\individual.

    Should I or shouldn't I?

I'm considering phoning the bank to see what they say.
  • Maybe ask if they can use Paypal to send it to you instead if you don't want to provide your bank details?
