Potential scam artists is a big extreme for a company who sold you a product with a fault. Perhaps you just got a duff one? Presumably there was a demo product your wife tried?

I used the term scam artists because I cannot get in contact with them.

Lets just say I have a very bad feeling, especially when other people on the net are saying that they do not reply or answer phones or get refunds over dodgy products sold.

If I instigate a charge back what happens after that?

Will the company attempt to contact me?

Ive never done a charge before so I'm a bit clueless on that one.

You can use chargebacks for credit card purchases (of any value) as well as for debit cards.

Just attempted a chargeback with RBS they won't do it because I didn't check the goods before walking away.

    Gonna try trading standards now.

They E-mailed me a template letter to send and give them 14 days to respond. which is what I'm going to do.

After that if they do not respond, trading standards are going to take it further.

Rubbish response - what if you bought a 1000 piece jigsaw and a piece was missing ? The goods are not fit for purpose / damaged and the supplier is not responding. Phone them again and if they give the same answer ask for their complaints procedure, usually focuses their minds.
