Just be grateful it's online only. That cuts out about half the inane chat about what bus to get, what else you can do in what town, whether tea or coffee will be drink in the branch and what biscuits you get...
The scrollbar on my weekly email digest of this thread has still shrunk to a fraction of its normal size though!0 -
yes, same interest rate and same monthly max but as mentioned, you can hold issue 20 alongside issue 19 - and presumably alongside issue 18, too. Issue 20 is marked as a limited edition, so I wouldn't keep contemplating for longer than absolutely necessary
Weren't 18 & 19 limited issue too, but not taken out until the following issue?I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
Just had a call from Virgin Haymarket cancelling my December appointment. They said that they have been informed that all future Regular Savers will be online only & they are to cancel any pre booked appointments for opening them....
I've found in the past that the Branch staff are less informed than members of this forum so we shall see what happens in December....0 -

Badger09 already broke the news on this thread on Friday. see https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5776240/regular-saver-thread-new-and-restarted&page=153#topofpage0 -
We were at the VM Lounge on Friday and were also told that all future RS will be online only.... at a lower interest rate than applied to the branch only offerings attracted.0

I think many of us have aluded to this as a possibility if not a likelihood.Free thinker.:cool:0

So perhaps Virgin do have a conscience, after all.
Don't link it to the drop in rates. HSBC have virtually halved their RS rates - and you'd be hard-pushed to try to convince anyone that they have a conscience...:)0 -

(1) “Christmas 2020” RSA: 2.70% pa fixed rate, 12 months term, however the max is a derisory £125 pm,
and
(2) “1 Year” RSA, 20th issue: 2.00% pa fixed rate, 12 months term, max £500 pm. Importantly, this issue can be held alongside the existing (very similar) 19th issue.]
Oh, and there is also a new "Learner Earner" RSA issue launched today, at a lower rate than the previous issue.
Thanks for this! Just opened the Christmas and No 20 online much easier than last year- with them now allowing you to log back in to complete application - no additional IDs needed to be cancelled."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0 -

Their "month", by the way, is a calendar month, so you can squeeze that extra bit of interest out of the account.0 -
The difference with these regular savers is that they seem to start in November and mature the following November whereas previous regular saver matured a month after 12th deposit was made i.e my number 19 has full £6000 in it but interest will be added in December."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0
