The interest gets added on 19th as an uncleared transaction. It clears sometime between 8pm and 9pm.
People have found in the past you get paid the interest again if the account is closed after the interest clears on the 19th. On some occasions, people have reported Virgin have written asking for this to be refunded.
But to answer your question, since the interest is credited on the 19th, it doesn't make sense to wait until the 21st.
Thanks for the info. I’m not going to take advantage of the loophole.0 -
Regarding the Virgin E Regular Saver maturing tomorrow - will the same amount of interest be accrued if the account is closed tomorrow or should it be closed on the 21st for the maximum amount of interest (even if it is only an extra couple of pence!)
The account matures midnight tonight (19th). You can withdraw (or close) on the 20th (any time after midnight tonight).0 -

You leave it too late, you'll struggle to get an appoinmtent in time for the first month's instalment. I only just scarped through to get an appointment for February 28th!I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -

No trouble here - I rang on Weds, got appointment for Friday, arrived early and was asked to go in right away.0 -

You obviously are not as well known at your Virgin Store as I am. I was phoned on Monday to say there was a new regular saver being issued and when did I want an appointment to come in!

I still had to bring my identification which they photocopied and gave me back. They ask me for it every time!
