I've never bothered with these Virgin accounts but take it the branch versions can't be operated online (and so the loophole of double interest getting credited online can't be exploited?)

    Unfortunately not Ed.

On that note I will see some of you on the evening of 19th Dec. :)

Maybe that's why we won't see the online regular savers again. They never seemed to be able to sort out the double interest given on some of the accounts. I queried the first one, and was told that I didn't have to refund it but the second time I was sent a letter asking me to transfer it back - which I did.

My M&S monthly saver has just matured. Very annoying T&Cs for renewing that M&S Monthly Saver. 2 DDs and Current account switch. I think I am out from this account for the time being. Too much hassle.

Those have been the pre-reqs for more than 12 months, so you must have met them for the account that just matured. If you just continue with the 2 DDs, you can open another 5% RS one.

Thanks for the information about the TSB monthly saver account. I had an appointment to open one tomorrow at the branch. I will cancel my appointment in the morning

Make sure you open it successfully online first. It's not reliable and if it falls over you'll have no choice but to go to a branch.

I should have mentioned that I had just opened it online, but thanks for your advice. It's appreciated.

Today Principality BS has released RS Issue 19 (replacing the former Issue 18). The terms seem to be as before: 12 months, max £500 p.m., 2.00% p.a. interest, online opening permitted.
