DD1 has problems with maths, and I had kept her old math books from year 1, to keep on practising old stuff by filling out the exercises she hadn't made then. Two years ago, the school changed to a different system, and dd has improved a lot. Today, I sorted through the pile of old books and discarded about 15! About 2kgs gone. I wa s just in time for the old paper collection
. I will clean the trays they were in, and allocate one to dd1 and one to dd2 for their current homework.

Well done on the tech break Igamogam. We did pretty well as we were too busy for it, but did need it to arrange to catch up with various friends and family.
I've been staying with my mum for a week (my DB, SIL & their kids were with us for 3 days), and we've made serious inroads into her clutter. She probably feels like GQ's family do after a visit
To be fair, she's been clearing out pretty consistently since my dad died, but had got a bit stuck. So we removed everything from the attic apart from suitcases that she will only need when she moves, a cot bed which will either sell with the house or be removed by whoever she gives it to (and the filing cabinet and chair that were clearly already in there when the previous residents reduced the size of the loft hatch by putting in built-in wardrobes!). We took this down to her office which she has been complaining is chaotic and unworkable - at which point she started getting grumpy!
However, we managed to sort it all out so well that not only is the attic empty, but the office is also clear, and various things she couldn't get to/use are now accessible. There's various bits in the garage for the CS and the tip, but she knows what's what and can make the necessary arrangements. No more wondering what's in the attic or making excuses about the office being too chaotic to work in
My DB and I took a few things away (I acquired a nutcracker and a corkscrew as she had over half a dozen of each, better than the ones I own!), some items have been reserved for friends, a projector screen has been donated to the local history group, and lots of rubbish has been cleared, so hopefully she'll be feeling a little less overwhelmed by the amount of stuff she has to deal with.
Since I left she's apparently put more phone numbers into her new phone, so people can get through (she's got one of the anti-scammer ones which makes you give your name if it doesn't recognise your number, and allows her to block people she doesn't want to talk to).0 -
Great inroads for your Mum Greenbee - I bet she'll breath a sigh if relief now that all the clutter has been cleared and there's an 'exit strategy' for the things she doesn't need or want. Gold Star that girl!
All I've done so far is clear garden rubbish, clean the greenhouse ready for the summer veg and tidy round - doesnt sound much but the green bin is full and I've started on the new compost heap. We've got two side by side made from pallets, about 3ft square and 4 ft high - so the first one can now rot down until next year.
Only thing I've got on the kondoing calendar is to take the out of date flares off my boat to the Harbour Conservancy for disposal. They were the previous owners and just a little ood - think 1992!!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
