KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Yesterday I took 2 full black bags of clothes from DM's house to the CS, I have the same problem as many in getting heavy things to them because of lack of parking etc. OH dropped me as near as he could and I struggled to carry them the rest of the way, made it, but at the cost of a very painful right hip:(
My nan's not long gone into a home, so we are starting (slowly until the Deputyship order comes through) clearing her house. There isn't actually much stuff there - someone's had all the food/ cleaning stuff/ toiletries already and the f/freezer has gone to my cousin and some things to one aunt. There are only a few clothes there - mainly too big/ too thick (she seems to be very, very hot in the home - has her window open 24/7) so the appropriate ones will be donated and the rest recycled. I'm going to look to sell one of her ornament collections, along with the WM/ TD/ small chest freezer. Some bulky items (beautiful (walnut) 1940s/ 50s bedroom set - wardrobe (still with key), dressing table and stool and tall chest of drawers) will probably get donated, but I'm going to see if somewhere will collect - along with the table, chairs and (new but v v uncomfortable) sofas and matching chair. The bedroom set in the spare bedroom I have my eye on - matches DD's bed perfectly and is new and solid oak and was purchased by my uncle before he died. I shall pay for it, though
ETA: Thankfully we live close to a CS which is by a large Tesc0 in a suburban shopping park - it's not the best CS, but I use it to donate things to because I can park directly outsideThere are preferable ones in town but a - I don't go to town very often, b - I'd have to pay to park c - parking is not close!
Small bits leaving here. I did put 6 unread paperbacks in the CS pile last night but read about 40 items in 40 days again this morning (I don't give up choc or anything for Lent - my bday falls in it, so I'd never manage!) so may use them as the start of my 40 items.....Totally not KM in that it won't be category related, but I shall see if I can find 40 items to donate - anything which gets binned/ recycled won't count

At last, our agent has managed to get the last month's rent from the tenant's deposit, should have been paid at the start of February. The house was in OKish nick, they'd cleaned up reasonably well apart from the most extraordinarily clogged powder tray on the washing machine and the bins were full of the wrong things and stinking. Some small bits and pieces are missing/broken from the house, but we've decided life is too short to pursue the tenant for the costs. Both we and the agents are sick of them and just glad they are gone.
Today OH has painted the landing ceiling, I've dismantled the old fabric metal framed lampshades. Metal will go to recycling on our next tip trip, fabric will go in the fabric recycling bag for charity. I've also taken advantage of the nice bright (although very windy) afternoon to do 3 small sewing jobs. Our lamps aren't bright enough to see to thread needles by in the evening. One shirt will be going to the CS, whilst going through the sewing box I spotted the spare buttons that belong to that shirt, so I've pinned them to the shirt also. An extra win.
Have organised for the drive and patio to be cleaned, it should make for some nicer looking photos when we go up for sale in the next few weeks. Need to get the oven cleaner in, and house cleaners to give it a good blitz. When it's had a good deep clean, hopefully we can keep on top of it.Make £2025 in 2025

Nice one, Slinky.
I returned a suitcase to a pal, which she gave me a few months ago and said if I tired of it, she would have it back and keep it in her loft to store things in it. So, that's what has happened.
Have also been decluttering on the allotment and in the flat, little bitsy things, place looking better but no huge wins to report. Keep on keeping on, lovely peeps.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Little stuff here too. I've had my utility room gutted and redone, so now have decent storage in there (although I need about 3 more shelves made). Huge amounts of stuff have been reorganised and relocated as a result. Now I just need the handyman to clear out the mess he made in the garage (why do builders ALWAYS make a mess in my garage?) so I can sort that out and the house might start to make sense.0

Redundant door and some empty jam jars put on Freecycle and the defunct answerphone taken to the tip. Large amount of boat stuff stored here for the winter now back on the boat. My small bedroom is now looking a bit less DoomlikeSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Seems very quiet here...........has everybody decluttered themselves :eek:Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Copped for a cold virus which has left me with a pesky cough and no energy, trying to be tidy, but nothing left the house since last week when stuff from mother's house and some of my things taken to the local wild animal rescue charity shop.
I have been keeping warm baking and making soup when energy bursts have occurred, but as fast as I deplete baking stocks then of course I feel the need to replenish ready for the next cooking spree.
I should add that we are not constantly stuffing our faces with cake, but I do try and make GF savouries, biscuits and bread as the ready made stuff is mostly pretty awful, by necessity even the nice things are made from a list of things I have never heard of:eek:
Still blowing like crazy and the garden really wet so no prospect of doing anything outside:(:(The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
I've been away catsitting, and now I'm home the only project going is clearing the kitchen to be stripped out for renovation. Not much kondoing in that, though - a few glass jars gone to recycling, that's about it.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

I've taken a box of random stuff to CS - made up of stuff from here and some things cleared from my nan's house. I expect to clear some more stuff from her house to the CS this week.
Also had a lurgy - .after 2 weeks I'm feeling better (not 100% though) so can hopefully do something in my house this weekI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
I've either been at work, on the lottie, asleep or reading. Have been getting burnable carp on the lotties burned before the bonfires are banned for the six months from April 1st. At least the potash is useful, which is more than you can say for bits of rotten wood and the prunings off the gooseberry bushes, which are viciously spiky.
