Buttons - mischievous triggers of memories. Happily, So Much Easier to re-home than photographs. Two of my young women colleagues have been comparing notes today about the techniques for housetraining their twenty-something partners before the young men will be allowed to waltz them to the altar.
You remind me of one lovely wedding speech where the bride was told "we've spent a lot of time teaching him to bring flowers at least once a month - don't let him fall out of the habit!". If these damsels want a well trained partner, have a chat with his mother, & observe his father carefully....0 -
I found this recently and thought we might like a tongue-in-cheek guide to gift giving:

Those gifts sure give the giver more joy than the receiver! Straight out the door with a 'thank you'
Husband has decided he will only wear plain white T-shirts under his office gear, so all the ones with prints can be washed and donated. They were very helpful when we were strapped for cash, but now we can afford plain ones. The printed ones were from companies or seminars, and were labelled with company and event names, and slogans. Just spent a few days at my eldest brother's home. His wife was complaining - only half-joking - that he wouldn't cope on his own, because he cannot cook anything, and wouldn't know how to use the washing machine. I had never realised his lack of domestic skills, he is very handy and does lots of DIY and carpentry and so on, but apparently he can't even cook a jacket potato. They have been married for FIFTY years - she only has herself to blame if she hasn't taught him by now! He retired earlier than she did, so I assume that even when she was working she came home and cooked the evening meal ...
All been a bit quiet on the Kondo front here at PWD Towers, I took in a lodger five weeks ago rather unexpectedly and at short notice; I must say that clearing the spare bedroom was considerably easier than it would have been pre-Kondo, but I still ended up with rather a lot of Stuff in my bedroom and elsewhere. It's a sign of how much I have changed, that having a messy bedroom bothers me now.
I'm gradually reducing the amount, but the biggest thing to come out of that room was the UnFinishedObject craft projects. They are still waiting for me to make decisions.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
My birthday weekend and I am getting the best gift of all - time with my grandson (and the rest of the family
).
We will spend today at a railway museum because granny likes trains and tonight we are together in a hotel. Excited!I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
I'm so excited today, why the good mood? Well, the kids have no activities, no events so I get the whole day to do exactly what I want and can take my time in doing so! This is so rare for me.
I've sat down first to plan things I'd like to do.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Managed 2 small bin bags for CS - got there and it closed 15 mins before.....really annoying as high street only opens to cars at 4.30pm. Spoke to manager of shop about this before and she claims she doesnt have any volunteers to keep open until say 4.45pm...........
Any way will keep bags in boot for the next time I am passing
Also fr**gled a small microwave that had been given to me but on reflection it wasn't as good as the one we have now.Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Went to my nan's house (she's now in a care home) to collect/ deal with post. Also picked up a pile of various kitchen items, brought them home, cleaned them all and they are now in a pile ready for CS. Am keeping all of her pegs, though - we never have enough pegs come Summer!
Brought back a garden ornament from there to re-home with my mum and 2 glazed garden pots which I'll use - I've lost a few over Winter.
Only other real outs from here this week are a pile of socks for recycling (1 pair of mine developed a large hole in heel and several pairs of OH's have worn very thin so bought him a new multipack) and a pair of outgrown school trousers from DS3 which I will take in to school this week for the 2nd hand clothes railOh - and a pile of paperwork from my Nan's filing box (at my house) - shredded/ recycled.
Ins= pegs, 2 garden pots (as above), socks for OH (as above) and I think that's it :TI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200
