KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I'm going through our wardrobes again on Monday and trying everything on and then will donate what I don't want.
My husband has so many clothes that I can hardly shut the wardrobe door. I said to him that he only seems to wear the clothes on the right hand side and the other side is barely ever touched!:rotfl:
I have some boots and some old tea towels and socks that can be donated to a recycling place too. That will be picked up next week.0 -
An opportunity popped up on our local fr**gle today. Somebody doing a coffee shop refit and wanting specific items that are no longer loved but of a certain theme that fits with the area....The sentence that caught me was along the lines of stuff that deserves a place of honour/admiration instead of stuck in the loft.....excellent I thought there is plenty of what they want in our attic
Only problem is it all belongs to OH and relates to an extreme sport he no longer does nor will do with the specific equipment as gear have moved on somewhat and he now does another unrelated extreme sport anyway............his response was "I am not getting rid of my stuff" I think I uttered some oaths and silently declared war

Trying to kondo a weird cough-and-fever
dd1 had a slight temperature for just one day, but could still attend school. I had/have a proper fever, and dd2 was healthy yesterday, and now has 39.7C! No other aches or pains, and no terribly drippy noses either. DD2 is at home and slept through the morning. This afternoon is the school's carnival parade, which goes right through our street.
I like the way the local pirimary and kindergarden have organised this parade (they are about three streets apart): primary school starts with dance at school, then has the parade with a break at the kindergarden, where snacks are provided. They all dance, and both schools (the toddlers often piggyback on the 11-year-olds) walk to the old folks' home / rehabilitation centre two streets down, where they again dance and snack.

One bag of scarves, clothes etc to the CS today, followed by a visit to optician's shop to deposit a bagful of no longer needed prescription specs.
I think that I will be a frequent visitor to the CS as tomorrow I start removing things from DM's house that Sis and I sorted out yesterday, will start with clothes and then graduate to linens.
Siebrie I hope that you feel much better soon.
Karmacat I don't have children either and love my Step children too much to inflict my stuff on them, although they might be pretty busy helping me with OH's things if he goes first:eek:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Small bag of about 20 assorted items to CS today - just stuff I have picked up as I have gone round the house - continuing with the net flow out of the doorBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Reports from the homestead where the paternal unit has been sent on a search mission Under the Stairs. Not quite the harry potter cupboard but an enclosed area behind cupboard doors which are rarely opened.
Found; 3 bags of cat litter (unopened, dating from 2005), an unused washing up bowl with £1.29 price sticker, a vacuum bag of sheets whose vacuum seal doesn't, a bag of rags, a parka coat of Dad's last seen a couple of decades ago and the tile cutter and the three boxes of spare tiles from the shower room built in 1997, whose recovery was the reason for this search mission.
Oh, and there was a terrible mess of biodegradable plastic bags which had biodegraded. Which is a fancypants way of saying turned into confetti and spilled everywhere.
Next week, the paternal unit will be excavating a hitherto unopened tomb in the Valley of the Civil Servants (close by the Valley of the Kings) where he will probably make history.Just for the record, no spiders were hurt in this adventure and the cat was only mildly upset.:rotfl:

Thank 'ee kindly.
Their cat (Wild Thing) is a sensitive soul and easily traumatised by domestic upheavals. Why, only last month, she had to cope with The Changing of the Sofa, but has reached an entente cordiale with the new couch and it has become her second favourite place to sleep. The most favourite being on top of the radiator. You know, on the sharpish metal bits........ not the brightest thing with four paws and a tail, but very cute.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

My parents' cat loves the radiator and its upright metal ledges. What baffles me is he'll leap up, position himself & seemingly unplug his skeleton to get better drape. No risk of an ill-considered foot or stick though.
Once comfortably toasted, he will submit to supervising m'lady mother napping, so long as he gets the the top of the blanket while she gets the underside thereof.
He's not a fan of their stringed instrumental music making. Furniture is moved, strangers come, make noises, move around, make more noises, go & furniture is moved again. The cat clearly thinks this is foolhardy & disruptive & sulks on another floor. I can't wholly disagree about the disruption but they enjoy it so I just smile & try to coax the cat back into rejoining us once the furniture is restored.
"I don't want any of your stuff" - what no beds, cupboards, chests of drawers? Yet the lad went out & bought a 1950s bed & mattress still with years of life & comfort ahead, having twigged the modern stuff will do but is expensive & not as nice.
We're still the workshop/light engineering space - and it both sparks joy & gets used - whereas my sewing machines cause disagreements & so may need to be rehomed.0 -
