KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Sorry for your loss Mrs moneypenny.
We've been kondoing stuff in the garden today. OH cut the lawns for the second time this month! I tidied some borders and got the old leaves out from round the strawberry plants. The lilac tree we dug out and put in a pot a couple of weekends back looks like it is suffering no ill effects so will hopefully be relocated successfully when we move to our new home (after we sell this one). I can't believe I was gardening in a T shirt in February. We also sat outside for lunch.
OH's empty box collection has been gathered into a large box and put in the loft. I managed to persuade him that one box wasn't required (small victories). He also needed somewhere to store his photographic equipment, he was talking about it going into his office somewhere, but really there isn't much room. I cleared some drawer space in our spare room and the bits have gone in there. Discovered his secondary sock stash, two of his dead pairs have gone to the recycling bag, and I found I'd got a hole in a pair of mine when putting washing away. He also told me the shirt he wore yesterday has shrunk so could go to charity after it had been through the wash. Hanging it on the line, a button dropped off it, so will have to repair that before it leaves the house. Grrr. I do have a couple of other repair jobs to do so at least it will be worth getting the sewing box out.
Had a good tidy up in the garage too. Earlier in the week I finally lost my rag with a dying carbon monoxide alarm. It had been beeping once every minute for several weeks but we couldn't take the batteries out. I had put it in the garage fridge to muffle the beep (our bedroom is above the garage), but I could still hear it from the kitchen. I took a hammer to it, which did at least mean we could retrieve the batteries for recycling. An old mobile phone has also received the hammer treatment. All the bits are in a box to take to electrical recycling the next time we go to the tip. Mustn't forget the shovel we broke trying to get a plant out.
I'm counting the days until we kondo our useless tenant. He should be going a week today and we'll have to go and see what needs to be repaired in the house we will eventually be moving to. We've decided against getting another tenant in. It's just too stressful. Will have to chase up the agent about the deposit as the tenant didn't pay the last month's rent. Hopefully there'll be enough deposit left over to cover anything that needs making good.Make £2025 in 2025

Inadvertently kondoed my lovely sycamore chopping/bread board
I always take it outside to brush the crumbs off for the birds....coming back into kitchen it literally jumped out of my hands  and nothing ever survives our slate floors sadly.

Igamogam, I know well the sentimental attachment to wooden boards. Mine was already ancient in my mother's 1950s childhood, came into Mum's keeping when Grandma died in 0970, and I asked to have it in the 1990s. It's round, with bevelled edges so it sits in the vertical dishdrainer between uses, and is used twice a day on average. So worn, so friendly, I would be sad to lose it.
You could think of a positive slant, tho. You might choose to buy another one from a craftsperson. This will promote your local economy and help a skillful person make a living from doing what they love.
Have been busy on my allotment this weekend in T shirt weather, cannot believe these endless days of cloudless blue skies and heat. Saw bumble bees and even a honey bee on the wing. I must not declutter any red dead or white dead nettles, which is what they're feeding on.
Found some completely random clutter on my allotment; set of plastic vampire fangs and an old sock. The sock had clearly been underground for years. It was an althletic sock, the cotton part had rotted away leaving the polyester mesh. I slung it though last night's washload and it is now in the ragbag for textile recycling.
Also in there is a worn-out pair of PJ bottoms, bought in a charity shop in June 2014 for 50p and much used. Have been replaced with another 50p from the same place.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

DDs have carnival week at school. It's a first for the school, and all the parents seem to be confused and slightly annoyed as to why they changed the celebrations from just one Friday to every day for a week. Today is 'funny glasses' day, tomorrow it's funny hair/hats, then all colours of the rainbow, funny socks, and finally the normal fancy dress and tour of the village on Friday.
As a result, we cleared out the dressing up boxes (!), and all the badly damaged items are now in the bin and recycling. We are down to one box, hurray!Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
Took advantage of the glorious weather yesterday and did loads of kondoingg in the garden. Wisterias pruned ( beautiful but they are thugs) climbing rose pruned, a couple of shrubs tidied, raised bed weeded and forked over, strawberry runners sorted and replanted. A self sown Heuchera replanted in the front garden and a tray of gladioli from last year replanted. Lugged about 18 gallons of water from one of the butts dosed with tomato feed round various shrubs and plants - the garden bin is full and I've another 2 trugs ready to go in it after it gets emptied this week. A very satisfactory day. Mr Robin kept me company and a humongous bumble bee gave me a good inspection & I told him how beautiful he wasSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

I got rid of a couple of unwanted things from the first aid kit.
I was looking at my socks and four of them have holes. I gave them to my dog to rip up as she likes it when I put her ball in there and she has to get it out.:)

On the allotment...
I almost hesitate to ask.
<self discipline twangs, pushed beyond restraint by unwanted first aid items>Nope.
Go on, please, what on earth do you use old PJ bottoms for, on an allotment?0 -

I think GQ meant that she'd added them to the ragbag (which also contained the allotment-found sock) - I think they were normally to be found in GQ's bedroom, rather than at the allotmentI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200
