KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Onwards and upwards, Sieberie.
I am kondoing some marking - sooooo boring.
I sorted some toiletries at the weekend, they'd been lurking in the bathroom for ages and only had dregs in. Decided to wash out the pots and recycle. My daughter works for Lush and we have sooooo many toiletries in our house it is beyond ridiculous. She has four days off this week so I've played a bit of emotional blackmail "can you sort your room out this week? I don't ask you to do much......" She said she would, so we'll see.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
VJ I too have been kondoing toiletries. Discovered that some face cream OH used to use that came from the Body Shop had 'split' and wasn't something you'd want to rub into your skin anymore, so that was washed away and the tubes recycled. Space has been created in the bathroom cabinet and some spare shaving gel that was on the floor below the cabinet has been moved into it.Make £2025 in 2025

Seems like several of us have been on a drive to use up toiletries or to discard ones which have become unusable. I know I have been conducting a war of attrition on hand creams, or products which could do double-duty as hand creams and have finally caught up with the backlog.
Thus, I restocked yesterday with my favourite handcream, a simple cotton tree product at 99p for a big 170g tube. Good to have got rid of all those smaller tubes, frees up some space.
Perhaps it's the thought that crimble is coming and that there may be gifted toiletries on our immediate horizon which is motivating us?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I too have been using up toiletries, particularly small tubes of hair conditioner that came in an advent calendar last year.
I was at a Christmas Fair on Saturday and won a bottle of body lotion, that will be used after my daily swim so quite welcome.
I think you may be right GQ, my stocks are usually replenished at Christmas time!0 -
I've been using up the dregs of all the many open hand cream tubes scattered around the house...0

I use up the dregs of handcreams add a few drops of lavender oil and rub them into my sore knee0

Another using up hand cream and lipsalves ,I have tubes near each sink and in my bedroom cupboard. All of which have had the tube cut in half ,and I'm ekeing out every last drop!:jFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0

I don't use handcream (I have eczema on my hands so use a plain prescribed emollient and even that hurts!) so earlier this year I emptied all the tubes (over a few months) into a body butter tub and have used them up on my body
I mixed in all sorts of things over the year (tinted face moisturiser (too dark), foot balm, hotel body lotion (usually a bit thin), face cream which didn't suit....) Stash much reduced and now in need of replacing a lot of things! I also donated all the unused body lotions which I didn't like (usually the smell)and some unused lip balms to a local homeless charity

Been through my cupboard too. I have a small pump bottle that delivers just the right amount so have squeezed out 3/4 part used tubes of various face creams into it and given it a good shake! Seems OK & hasn't curdledSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

All my unopened hotel/airline stuff is going to the local night shelter - I just need to sort it all into batches. It's a great option for any unwanted toiletries. Some places are also happy to take open items so it's worth checking with them if there is something that you have opened but know you won't use.0
