More paper found its way into the shredding and recycling. There's not much more to do now although what is left are the more difficult decisions to make. I will finish the pile I'm working on by Sunday - I guess about 10 pieces of paper a day.

The reading pile is now down to current things only. Trying to read then recycle things as they come in so they don't hang around.

Also been deleting emails - still hundreds to go, but a few a day is better than none at all.

My home is at last looking tidier. I will keep doing a bit each day and eventually it will be how I want it. The key for me is to not buy more clothes as I have way too many already. A friend is currently altering a dress for me so it can be worn to a Christmas party, saving me space and money buying something else.

  • I have another bag for the charity shop. 2 dresses and a cardigan (not in my right colours) and a jumper from my husband.

I also am giving away a thing called a Cranio Cradle. It's supposed to be for stiff necks, but i don't need it anymore.:)

I'm going to look around for more things as I'm going later in the week.:T

Small things leaving here - about half a dozen small fbook sales (all money to the children), 2 new unwanted items to DS2's school for a Xmas event, a bag of random items to CS, a couple of toiletries donated to homeless mission, a pair of my socks developed a hole and have been recycled, a pile of scrap paper taken into work for students to use, an item donated to a neighbour and an item donated to a mum at school for her youngest.... not sure it will make any difference against the expected onslaught of items coming in this month and next month, though! :rotfl: sigh...

Bit of misadventure here. The toilet cistern kondoed its structural integrity and kondoed several gallons of water through the kitchen and utility room ceiling.

    Kondo wins:
    • Knew exactly where to find the screwdriver to turn the isolator off
    • Cupboards not overfull so was able to empty them in 5 mins flat
    • Most things stored neatly in plastic tubs/glass jars so just required a wipe down to clean
    • Sensible amount of old spare towels kept for just this type of occasion

:T Bravo! That's as good as it gets in a bad situation - well done!

carrielovefanta - so an emergency situation and you felt in control, perfect.

After my sorting of the dining room – which identified a few areas still to work at – I decided to re arrange my living room. So much easier with no junk to move around. The new layout of this compact room is much better. On piece of furniture was removed and I rehomed it via facebook getting £15 for my efforts. I also had some help from my bf who put hid all the messy wires under the carpet and fixed a socket that didn’t work.

I put up my Xmas tree, and got out the rest of my decorations, any I don’t use will be donated this week rather than going back in the loft after Xmas.

One bottle of champagne (received from boss last christmas or year before) to friend's 40th. I don't drink bubbly wine, and particularly don't like champagne (I never thought I would ever be in a position to make that claim :D)

St. Nicolas dropped off a Curver container with gifts, and we had a great time unwrapping them. Most gifts (purchased by my parents and me) are 'temporary', by which I mean that they will be used (craft paper), eaten (very mature gouda), played with (playdoh) and then will be gone.

The Curver container (secondhand from my parents) is now in the attic holding future shoes. The cardboard box they were in has been squashed and is in the paper recycling (it was torn at the edges).

I don't use handcream (I have eczema on my hands so use a plain prescribed emollient and even that hurts!) so earlier this year I emptied all the tubes (over a few months) into a body butter tub and have used them up on my body :) I mixed in all sorts of things over the year (tinted face moisturiser (too dark), foot balm, hotel body lotion (usually a bit thin), face cream which didn't suit....) Stash much reduced and now in need of replacing a lot of things! I also donated all the unused body lotions which I didn't like (usually the smell)and some unused lip balms to a local homeless charity :)

Have you tried lush dreamcream? It's had good results with eczema - they'll give you a small sample to try if you go in.

Not much to report - still trying to stem what comes in but DD's shop has relocated so there's lots of unsellable bath bombs, soaps etc that have come home with her (unsellable simply cos there might be a bit broken off, they are perfectly usable). It's like trying to hold back a tidal wave.

In other news she did clean out her bedroom and has kept it tidy for nearly a week :T

I am using up old bits of candles at the moment - they are quite effective at keeping the chill off the room i work in, which means i don't have to put the heating on. Win: win.:T
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Just saw this link on our local freegle group - worth considering the local foodbank if people are getting rid of basic kitchen items - esp can openers!

I have gone through the pile of paper related to w*rk, and most of it is now gone! I have kept the annual evaluations, the contract and annual increases, the certificates of completed courses, information related to company pension scheme. (The annual financial overviews are all with their relevant tax year.) I have kept the annual evaluations, because the termination was rather abrupt, and I may have to prove that it really wasn't my fault if I were to apply for unemployment benefit next year October.

And I have planted the amaryllis bulb I got as a St. Nicolas gift :D That cheers me up!
