KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Just had to share...
I have made it my first job of the day, if I'm in my normal office, to fill my bin at work, however busy I am. It takes me about 30 minutes, and anything after that time is shoved unceremoniously back into the filing cabinet. Today I cleared drawer 2 of my filing cabinet (it has 4 drawers, top drawer sorted last week) and put things away in it that had been sitting on top of the filing cabinet and drawer 2 under my desk. So that's 3 / 7 drawers now tidy, clear desk and clear top of the filing cabinet.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Took advantage of it being Hallowe'en - included in our trick or treat goodies were 4 packs of crisps which DS3 has gone off and are out of date later in Nov, 3 apple juices from a multipack which he didn't like and 4 smoothies which DS2 has stopped drinking (had to throw the other ones out as they were out of date by a few weeks..... - these were in date until 10th Nov) Crisps (short date) and smoothies (fresh) weren't suitable for foodbank (although I could have passed on the longlife apple juice (bought in Portugal!)) so this was a good way to use them up - the recipients seemed very appreciative!I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200

It is half term here, and I have the whole week off work. Dd2 fell ill on the Friday before, and was ill until Wednesday, DD1 could stay at a friend's for two noghts, which was very good for DD2's recovery. They share a room and the eldest needs much less sleep than the youngest.
Without dds around (1 away, 1 asleep) I have deepcleaned the coffeemaker, the tumble dryer, the dishwasher and the electric kettle. I have sorted through a box with miscellaneous clothes in the attic, which is now relabelled and contains 'African clothes'.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
I've been lurking on here for ages. When I first joined this thread ( eons ago) I had made a good wee start on Kon Mari.
Sadly, my life has unravelled somewhat and my house, wardrobe and garden with it :-(
I really need to get back on board, I may have to reread the book and start from scratch. ( I'm really disappointed with myself)

Need to 'do' my clothes again, so I'm pulling them all into the same place. I'm going down with a cold, the weather is freezing and I am aching (RA) so it is so tempting to just crawl into the pile and hibernate
If I was rich I'd donate the lot and start again.... :rotfl:
Well, it wasn't strictly by the book, but it got the job done. All my summer clothes that will go on to next year are in one place and all my winter clothes are hanging up.
DH reluctantly joined in- it didn't take him long and once he starts he is suitably ruthless, but it is getting him started that takes the time! Maybe he thinks it is still summer?
Spurred on by the purchase of a new waxed jacket I tackled the wardrobe of shame in the attic.....
By the end of play today:
- 5 sacks went to the fabric recycling place (I've been collecting bits for most of this year)
- several old text books are in the paper recycling as the curriculum has changed, and another heap of cardboard boxes (I think they breed under the bed!)
- we have a pile of 'stuff' including Xmas decs ready for a CS run tomorrow.
- I got a new sharps boxI was complimented on how full the original was; it is a strange obsession to have but I like an efficiently filled sharps box! (I use one pre-loaded syringe a week, so it is easy to fill the box tidily
)
Needless to say, you can't spot any of the gaps in the house. I know they are there, and will probably feel better about it when this cold is over.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Well done, Luxor4t!
Remember the stuff I rescued from the office reshuffle at work? The huge haul of duvets, pillow cases, irons, hair dryers, sheets, drinking glasses, amenities, etc? I think I calculated the loot as being worth €100 (£85). I am currently using a sachet of Anyah daycream and I like it, so I g00gled the item. It's a 15ml sachet, with thin daycream, which makes it a bit clumsy to handle, but it's a lovely cream and I have no allergic reaction. It retails at €6 (£5)!
