Am informed that it's a Capaldi one :)

Impromptu tidying session in DS3's room with him today led to 3 too-small hats and a pair of gloves being out aside for a friend's little one, 3 pairs of wearing-thin socks and 4 pairs of too-small walking socks to the fabric recycling, some paper recycled, a board book set aside for nephew, 8 other books set aside to donate to school, 3 small toys set aside for shoebox appeal and 4 small pieces of random plastic tat binned. Oh, and a Xmas top added to CS pile. Also sent a shirt of DS2's to fabric recycling - green paint stains from art at school (thankfully was one of his older less-white ones) 4 cracked takeaway tubs also put in recycling - will need to sort through lids now, as I clearly have excess spare ones! :D

Greent - I’m determined to keep my takeaway tub collection under control now that I’ve sorted it. I use them for freezing leftovers in portions & they’re invaluable but they’re either all being used or none so I have to make space to store them.

:( Slight disappointment in that the brolly fabric has several small holes and has some non-washable stains. I shall add it to the textile recycling bag, but not spend any time on sewing with it. It had been lying around on the ground for too long, I guess.

Never mind, it will be re-entering the material stream in another format, rather than littering a car park and being an eyesore.

indeed :-) I love dr who. i also don't like pears (neither the taste nor the texture) so that's been quite an easy NYR to keep. Being kind hasn't been so easy, but working on it. And courageously applied for a new role at work (and got it despite answering the question 'what gets you out of bed?' 'my 2 spaniels needing a pee' :rotfl:)

Greent a needle in gummy bears? that's just awful, but makes me feel less bad about using wrapped sweets.

No MKing this week as have been working on a paper for work (now 6101 words so definitely broken the back!) However, I did
    a) clean my bedroom - so much easier already
    b) wash some clothes headed for the CS
    c) give some tlc to a couple of items i'm keeping - they were very grateful :T
    d) find getting dressed much easier both yesterday and today as all the clothes in my wardrobe are clean and i like them all. exercise bike looks a bit naked though :rotfl:
love reading all your inspirational stories. away to Oban this week so might not be online till Wednesday.

Love the umbrella recycling. There's a man in Paris who repairs umbrellas. Apparently people send them to him from all over the world.

I too am horrified at what goes into general rubbish skips that could be reused or recycled. My neighbours all have large bins which are absolutely stuffed to overflowing on bin day - I have a smaller one and at most it has 3 carrier bags put in over a fortnight but usually only one carrier bag.

The paper clearance continues at a steady pace. Won't be long now before all the easier stuff has been done and the more difficult decisions will have to be made and things actually dealt with!

A pair of pyjama trousers went in the ragbag this weekend, along with a snood and a book for the charity bag. Summer clothes are now up in the loft and winter clothes unpacked. I know KM says no seasonal storing, but my home is small and I prefer the space - winter jumpers are bulky.

Have a friend coming tomorrow to stay for a couple of nights so need to put away the winter preps today - extra tins of soup etc in case of being snowed in for a longer period of time this year - as they're all over the floor in the spare bedroom.

Mine were nicely under control - all stacked in a cupboard and just one excess lid as a spare (lids all slot together nicely in a bigger Tupperware style tub from goodness-knows-where bought years ago) Thankfully they are all the same style bar 2 (1 brought back from Portugal where we had a takeaway on last night rather than going out for a meal as we had an early start the next morning and 1 from a new takeaway we tried and didn't like!) I too use them for freezing leftovers/ tubbing leftovers for the fridge. I also find them invaluable for sending HM food away with the student children - I don't care if they get broken/ lost, whereas my paid-for tubs are another matter :D The 2 non-matching ones will be heading out after Xmas hols with students :)

I've been chatting elsewhere about sleeping bags ... I have an old "mummy" type one sitting in my airing cupboard, it's not been used in literally 20 years. I'd never go camping again, and if I did need a sleeping bag (to "bug out" or, more realistically, to sleep in a hostel on my round the world trip :D) there's no way I'd use that. So. The stuff bag, I'll use that for myself if the bag as a whole goes to recycling. Thing is, it needs a wash, as its been used maybe 20 times, and the label specifically says not to wash it - I don't know how you're expected to clean it. Any suggestions what I can do? Nice ones, please :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I’ve also added a burger press & a shot measuring metal thing to the c/s box since I haven’t touched them ever.

Do you mean a measure to measure spirits? We bought one of those last week........... for years spirits have just been a 'glug' in a glass, but we watched that programme Adrian Chiles made about how much he was drinking...... so decided to be a bit more careful in future.

We also went looking for some nice glasses to drink spirits from but couldn't find any we liked in John Lewis. Found some online £6.53 for 4 of them including postage. They arrived this weekend and were put to good use last night, purely in the interests of research. I asked OH if he'd used the spirit measure........ apparently not... Anyway, the spirit glasses were great, lovely shape and really heavy. They looked way more expensive than they were.

    If you have scales, you can weigh alcohol. it's more or less 1:1 - 1ml = 1gram. So a 25ml shot weighs 25g :)
