KonMari 2018 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Brilliant progress! I do love hearing how everyone is doing, and well done DundeeDoll on such a great start.
I've been keeping a few good things in a corner for a friend's car boot sale. She's now cancelled the car boot, so they're going to the Red Cross shop instead tomorrow. Items include a mirror, Hunter wellies, a vacuum cleaner, a picture frame, unused Australian UGG boots (a gift, too small).0 -
Arrggh.. OH is now talking about buying 2 new computer screens and a docking station so he can work on 2 screens from his laptop at the same time..... I have 2 screens already in my office, but I plan on giving up work in the next 6 months so will only need one after that. I've offered him the newest one (about 3 months old) and I'll use the laptop screen instead of the big one, so we only end up with 3 not 4, but he doesn't seem keen on this solution.
He's more often that not working on the dining room table because his office is so messy, so I don't know how he plans to make this work........

slinky I find the docking station with 2 screens fabulous. That said, can you make it the prize for sorting his office?
Didn't get much sorting done today but did sort pen pot in kitchen (now has half the number of pens in, and they all bring joy and are easy to get out!!!). Also washed winter cardi which sparked joy yesterday but was a bit grubby. ok so now washed realise not just a bit! so did my fave coat as well. good drying day. Will work along clothes rail ensuring all are loved :-)MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Dundee & Polly - I prefer to hang my clothes too. I have plenty of clothes and do find it difficult to part with them as they all bring joy!!! I don't tend to follow fashion as I know what suits me and I colour co-ordinate ( I blame my mother!) It does mean I can pack for a holiday with a capsule wardrobe though
Only out today will be a gallon of used engine oil from the boat but I am stockpiling a ragging bag and a CS bagSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Hi folks,
Quick question please - we have Kondoed the remaining videos (sad times!) but I would like to recycle them if possible.
I have already taken out the paper sleeves and put them in the recycle bin. Do you think I could put in the boxes (if I strip off the plastic film on the outside) and the cassettes (minus the tape)?
Thanks!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -

Thanks!I don't think the ordinary household recycling stream can handle these (I work for a local authority and advise on such things to our residents). Councils don't recycle themselves, they sort and bale recyclables and sell them. I would suggest a quick email to your council to check the situation. Also, perhaps think obliquely, my local (Red Cross) charity shop can take in some quite random things to sell into the recycling trade, such as cables, CDs, non-functional small electricals, metal. If you asked around, you might be surprised what can taken and where. HTH.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

My pleasure. I'm an ardent green and very reluctant to let anything go into the landfill if it can possibly be avoided.

Not for the first time I gave thanks to MK last night. I was able to locate a lifetime warranty card (for a Timpsons watch battery) in my much slimmed down paperwork files. The battery had lasted just short of three years. Replaced free of charge this afternoon by the friendly local Timpsons repair chap, and the card is filed away until it's next needed, circa 2021.
I made a successful drop off at the Red Cross shop. I kept back the UGG boots to see if they can be stretched. But everything else went. The Hunter wellies were a gift, they were very heavy to wear, it felt like weight training wearing them, no joy = thank you and goodbye!
So, little by little life is streamlined and simplified0 -
The bathroom suite has been kondoed!
Yes it's being replaced the bath with a full wall width shower, but, the open shelves are gone and the sink will have a cupboard, which will hold a basket with cleaning spray and toilet cleaner, and a basket with cleanser, and day and night moisturiser ,hand cream , and face cloths.
I'm also going to keep shampoo and conditioner in there with shower gel that I'm using .so I can just take into shower as and when.
I don't keep back ups ,until I'm down to the last bit in a bottle when I buy new it goes in airing cupboard.
Toothbrush and toothpaste will be in the sink cupboard too.
I'll only have a bottle of liquid soap on the sink.
And my 2 orchids on the window sill.:jFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0
