Untaxed vehicle parked illegally

But why should their be Tax Discs when we don't have MOT discs or Insurance Discs, unless you think this is a good idea?.
If you think about it how exactly does having a tax disc help catch people who don't pay tax?. If someone can get close enough to the car to check the tax disc then they can easily read the number plate and check the tax status online.
So how exactly do you think that having a tax discs makes it easier for the police to catch them considering they can check this using the numberplate?.
Quite simple really. Not all police carry the equipment to instantly check number plates.
The tax disc gave an immediate clue to a vehicle's legality. CEO's could also check tax discs which they can't now. Also, in the event of an accident, you (a member of the public) could instantly get an idea whether the other party is 'legal' or not.
They were also different colours so that possible invalid ones could be spotted from a distance.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

The reality is it's extremely unlikely any police officer or CEO would go around looking at people's tax discs. The only time they would usually check this is if the car was "suspicious" in some way and then they would check everything and not just tax.
If they were sending people around on foot checking for cars illegally on the road then it would be pretty simple to have an app on a phone that "scans" number plates and reports back the MOT, Tax and Insurance status. This would then allow them to check all three in the time it takes to check a paper tax disc.
In the event of an accident then i could go online on my phone and check the MOT, Insurance and Tax status in 30 seconds. This can be done by anyone and if a police officer wanted this information a lack of tax disc wouldn't stop them.Quite. But the people i'm talking about tend to give the vendor false details.
So someone has given the vendor false details and the car is spotted without a tax disc on the side of the road. How does having a paper based tax disc help in any way of catching them?. It doesn't in anyway allow them to better identify who the owner is.0 -
