Which would still exist had the vehicle been taxed so there hasn't been any additional harm caused.

No, I am specifically on about inconvenience and nuisance caused, which on this occasion seems to be the hypothetical using the last parking space in the road. And pointing out that that inconvenience would be no greater or less if the vehicle was 'legal' or not.

Do you want to have another try?

Best tell the government to stop wasting their time then clamping and towing untaxed vehicles.

All the streets where I live are now permits. We had the same problem before. The council now clamp untaxed cars pretty fast and then tow if not paid. I feel your pain as I also live in a small close.

'Road tax' has nothing to do with the council. They can however remove abandoned vehicles that have no current keeper.

But that aside and in particular to the OP's case, I would suspect that the car is uninsured as well and if it's being driven, would then be a police matter.

It may interest everyone to know that since the DVLA/government abolished the tax disc, the number of untaxed vehicles has risen dramatically which is no doubt a statistic the government don't want to shout about.

The DVLA of course, wanted us to believe that future enforcement would be carried out electronically using ANPR technology (hence the TV advert campaign). But of course that only works if everyone registers their vehicles correctly and carries out the correct keeper transfer process when selling/buying a vehicle.

To me it was quite obvious that the 'new' system would be abused by those determined not to pay their road tax amongst us. I would of thought that it would also be obvious to the very much more educated than I people who make these decisions.

Not important to me how it gets removed or who does it, just that it does............being in a permit zone seems to help considerably than it did before. So I am happy.

It’ll work if sellers of vehicles keep their admin up to date. It doesn’t need the buyers to participate.

Quite. It's the vendor's responsibility to do it, and has been for decades. It's also in their interests...

But why should their be Tax Discs when we don't have MOT discs or Insurance Discs, unless you think this is a good idea?.

If you think about it how exactly does having a tax disc help catch people who don't pay tax?. If someone can get close enough to the car to check the tax disc then they can easily read the number plate and check the tax status online.

So how exactly do you think that having a tax discs makes it easier for the police to catch them considering they can check this using the numberplate?.

This is the 21st century. And people are still arguing that a round piece of colourful paper stuck in the windscreen is somehow the single most important thing for proving whether a car's taxed or not.

    Fertheloveofgawd.

Apart from anything else, that round piece of colourful paper is trivial to forge.

Quite. But the people i'm talking about tend to give the vendor false details.
