Could you make the burgers into meatballs and serve with a tomato sauce? At least it would make another few meals. Alternatively could you give some to neighbours rather than throwing away.

Thanks Joedenise - making some them into meatballs is a brilliant idea. Oddly enough another thing that got defrosted was a plastic container of shakshuka sauce (spicy tomato) so I can use that up as well. That's a winner all round!

Sadly, my near neighbour is vegetarian but I shall ask around the others.
  • Morning chums and feeling full of the cold this morning, did my first small shop of November yesterday afternoon and spent under £20.00 which was great. I have really being making inroads into the freezer and dried food stuff in my cupboards and really mainly needed fresh fruit and veg and a few other odds and ends.Lots more wriggle room in the freezer now and some of the treasures I have found in there were quite good I have a piece of angus steak for dinner tonight that was tucked away at the back behind some frozen veg and its been there for around three months at least so that's dinner sorted at least.

I found a tin of prunes in the cupboard and I shall make some custard to go with some for pudding tonight

Hope everyone is OK and keeping warm and dry

Lovely when you find stuff you've forgotten about in tbe freezer isn't it? I was rummaging in my outside freezer yrsterday and came across a "min potee" pack which I bought back from France. This a pack I just need to SC with some beans, veg and stock. Will make DH and I ar least 2 or 3 dinners.

Need to remember that when I do my next menu plan as it's a lovely meal in the winter.

  • Steak was gorgeous and I treated myself to some HM chips done in my remoska I don't normally eat chips at home but I really fancied some, parboiled for 10 minutes a sliced up spud then squirted a bit of oil spray stuff on it and whacked into the remoska Not really chips I suppose more like a sort of wedges but delicious with the steak.felt very naughty as I usually have mash or jacket when it comes to spuds :) but I decided a treat now and again won't kill me :)

Tonight I will have some fish as I have a lemon sole in the freezer so I will have that with lots of steamed veg peas, carrots and white cabbage and a small parsley sauce packet I discovered in the freezer Goodness knows where it came from, but it looks OK I will taste it first before I use it on top of the fish though. The last of the tin of prunes with custard will do for pudding. I am finding such odd things tucked away in both the freezer and cupboards and using them up has been great for both me and my purse :):)

Have a great weekend chums I am due to go to the local church fair at 11. they do a smashing cup of coffee and HM cake there, and the proceeds go to a girls school in India which the church help support

    Cheers JackieO xx
  • Joedenise - thanks again for the idea of beefburger meatballs! We had it the other night with the shakshuka sauce and it was brilliant. A very easy and tasty meal. I didn't roll it into balls. I just cooked the beefburgers and cut them into chunks and threw them into the sauce. It only used 3 burgers but was a good meal over pasta.

Neighbours not keen to have beefburgers, so I've cooked them all to make them last a bit longer. Soon there may be a bit of freezer space I hope (we need to eat something other than beefburgers!)

How about chopping them up and putting them into a curry sauce or a sweet and sour sauce and have with some plain boiled rice? That's a couple of different ways to use them up. I'm sure there must be other sauces that you could cook them in. See what sauces Google comes up with.
