Glorious sunrise as I pulled the curtains back, even took a photo it was so eye catching. Of course the "red sky in morning" may be correct, rain forecast later, but the sunrise was worth it
I had a chopped fresh pear with my breakfast porridge this morning. Pear not quite fully ripe but it needed using because the brown manky bit was getting larger
The pears are my "scrumped" ones, so a bit of mank comes with the deed;)
I've taken a HM mince stew thing out to defrost for dinner, mainly because despite having freezers full of grub I'm in a CBA phase at the moment and nuking one I made earlier is an easy choice
Pancakes are still on my mind, should I get peckish today could be Pancake Monday:DEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I was going to go and get my routine blood test this morning. I ate something about 12 last night but it says that you only have to fast for 8 hours beforehand.
I feel a bit hungry now though so I will see if I can last until about 1. I'm not sure if I can be bothered though so I might just do it another day this week.:p0 -
I couldn't wait.:D I just had the last of the butternut squash soup with some wholemeal bread and marg.
I'm going to make a batch of that soup again this week and a creamy celery soup too.2025 GOALS

Soup for one knocked over phone base unit so grubbing about to unplug and hen plug in an emergency basic phone which has given me a bad back - hope it clears today as want to go Lid for some of their offers. Good job I have some frozen dinners as I just not up to prepping and/or cooking today at all. One of the advantages of CFO we also have extras in the freezer.0

Good afternoon everyone,
Just popping in to wish PN good luck with the move.:)
Back to CFO tomorrow and will catch up then.0 -
Lunch was early, famished by 1130, so it was cheese & HM chutney rolls, again
And now I've just eaten a fake 2 finger K1t K@t:o
Dinner of defrosting mince stew on course
Talking of soups, I see L has leeks on offer from Thursday, could be my ideal time to get some in for leek & tattie soup, but the leeks are somewhat variable in L's so wait & seeEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
WHMF I hope the back is better
PN hope the move went smoothly and you're now settled in you temporary home with maybe a well earned treat
Farway Leek and potato soup is not one I usually make, somebody made me a tasteless one years ago which put me off, but thinking about it I reckon it may have had no seasoning so I might add to my list of soups to make over the winter
I used some of my cooked fruit for breakfast with some yogurt. Lunch was a bowl of HM minestrone soup. I needed to cook the turkey tonight so breadcrumbed and airfried it and just cooked some veg for a quick dinner. I remembered why I usually only airfry breadcrumb chicken thigh fillets, they have more fat so work better, the turkey was a little dry I maybe cooked it a few minutes too long but it was crispy :cool:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Evening all.
I'll not reply individually to all (sorry!) but just say hope everyone enjoyed their meals etc today. Quiet today for me as still have this cold/bug thing so taking it a bit easy. Had to move an app that I had from Wed (not heard back yet) as I can't go if I'm not at my best. Its quite typical as this is the first cold/bug I've had for a long time, oh well.
Had some meatballs earlier but did not finish them. Thought about giving the few left to the colony but the gravy is onion based so probably not a good idea, even if I washed them off**
** The meatballs that is, not the colony!
Did have to pop out briefly but aside from grabbing a couple of essentials found a 3pack of York bars (raisin ones) for £1, full size bars too so they will make a nice change treat in a day or two.
@Farway, not sure what you mean by a fake one ? Unless its an 'own brand' type one ? Morrs I think did a reasonable one. Might still do.
@PN, hope the move went reasonably well and I'm sure in a few days things will settle down a bit more if they have not and you'll be fine.
@Brambling, Perhaps the soup needed a bit more leek in it ? I can't recall the last time I tried this (it would of been a tin though not home-made) if at all, I seem to think I must of though as I can't tolerate soups with high tomato content so tend to try 'nearly everything else', seasoning could well be right I guess.
Note to self: It was C+B 'ham hock' soup I'd not tried, not Bax's , explains why I could not see it, to be honest for 50p it seems worth trying as it may go well with something else perhaps.
I'd not dare say buy a tin to compare home to produced however a bit of cheating could be in order here, merely read the tin ingredient list to see if there is any inspiration about what could be put into the home made one, usually said labels can be found on one of the shopping sites too no need to look in the shop.
Slightly jealous as a relative has informed me they made some turkey sausage rolls (at my suggestion a while back too!) and they were exceptionally yummy. I thought they might be just for the change factor with a bit of careful seasoning, I think she used proper butchers purchased turkey mince for them but I'm not sure. Shame too far away for me to sample them.Seem quite difficult to actually find these here, cursory search seems to show they are popular thing 'down under' , local/country specific tastes perhaps ?
EDIT. There's a -lot- of recipes for these so they must be popular, just slightly odd you can't actually easily buy them unless I'm looking in the wrong places! :rotfl:0 -
Things went well, completion occurred at 11.30am, by which time I'd just put my things down in my room.
I'd managed to bring the wrong boxes with me. The right boxes are in storage.... and contain my usual clothes and toiletry items, but I don't fancy going there for a day or two (and in the dry), so I'll make do with what I've got.
Jeans were falling off me as I walked though as I've not been eating properly... so, this morning, it was off to Toby for their All You Can Eat.
I had a "big Yorkshire pudding looking thing" that has bits of onion/bacon in it with a scoop of the gravy, two large sausages, two hash browns, a tinned tomato, baked beans and a scoop of crispy potato/bacon/cheese/onion hash, one fried egg. 2 pieces of toast: one with jam, one with marmalade. I'd had ideas of going back for more, but I couldn't manage more as it turned out.0 -
big congratulations PN, you have waited patiently for a long time. Rest a while and build yourself up again. You are a patient soul0
