@Wednesday2000 Chipshop treat sounds like a plan, tis the weekend after all!
, I'm still torn with our local one really its far too hit/miss. I may succumb to it and end up with an (overpriced) gravy mix tomorrow or something. Hmm.
I was a total pig yesterday. I went to the chip shop (well kebab shop) and shared a large bag of chips with my husband and then I got an Indian in the evening as well.:o:p
I just had a few bites of the leftover Bombay Aloo for breakfast.
I could only manage a few bites as I am still full up from yesterday.

Finally got food
I wandered into 4ldi for inspiration, else it'd have been a bag of chocolates. Spotted their twin packs of corned beef crispbakes and I also grabbed one of their own brand curry Pot Noodles (36p instead of 39p at the moment).
I'll take the microwave down the tip in a bit and the toaster... I'll keep the kettle for now and to have that Pot later.
Earlier I did a small run to storage and dropped stuff off so not so panicky about what will fit in the car as I think I've got one full car load to do tomorrow, whereas it was looking like one over-stuffed and dangerous car full.0 -
@PN well done on the food.
And the small saving too! I was like that with those pea's the other day I'd normally dismiss them but they were 3x£1 , a decent brand and a half sensible tin size (as in not the tiny tin) so I had to grab them before the price went back to about 45p-55p each!
As I've mentioned I've been after those Gin's chicken/mush twin pack slices (£1) for a while, or at a push the peppered steak ones are OK, however their absence is annoying! But point being (as you mentioned crispbakes, I'm aware of what these are!) there is never any shortage of their Steak slices, but I'm not keen on them. Typical! There's usually a selection of sausage rolls but the brands are so unknown to me I'm not brave enough.
I did venture into the Polish shop earlier with a view to a small pack of dried onions, but (despite her translating for me) they did not have any left. Shame as they were about 39p as their garlic ones were that price. I must go there more often as I think there are many goodies to be had at a sensible price however you do need the 'right person' serving to know what you're buying. There's quite an interesting crisps/snacks selection too as well as one of the largest Polony sausage racks I've ever seen , its more like a catering sizes though.
I've not seen locally those chilled almost oval (rectangular but rounded corners) pies you get chilled either. Usually chicken/mush or steak/kidney ones for about 0.70 to £1 , shame as a couple of years back before the coco turned into BM their own brand ones were quite decent. Better than the 4pack frozen ones they had at least!
I do need a toaster but I had a thought on this, those GF grill things, as long as you get (as in me, unless you were planning too!) one that is not a generic 'sandwich maker' with the silly patterns inside in which case it really is not helpful for much else, and one with the vertical 'drain' grid thing, then its useful for all kinds of things be it potato slices, fries, cheeky thin(ish) burger / meat chop as well as making toast. I'm assuming I'd get away with toast as its only two heated plates after all.
As I say I'm not keen on the ones 'dedicated' to bread by their 'plate shape' they do look nice but to use them for cooking/warming other things looks between difficult and impossible. Spotted the reasonable one for 14.99 but it will have to wait about 3 weeks I think. It may kill potentially 3 birds instead of 2 with one stone however as it will do as a toaster / dry fryer / cooking plate...
No space to do a pie in one but that's something I can live without. I dare say one of those chilled pies would be OK in a microwave with care, if the foil was removed and it was placed into a bowl instead of on a plate as I'd expect it to go a bit mushy and collapse before I'd zapped it to my satisfaction level. Ahem.
Makes sense on the car load too, best to not overpack it and go twice if needed I guess.
Lunch here was nothing, unless you count an instant veg soup along with some of those jcob pepper crackers dipped into it. Not terribly hungry while I have this annoying cold. Had to postpone an interview actually too unfortunately (no choice) as twould be unfair for me to go and also I'd not be anywhere near my best either.0 -
Welcome Pakhsh I always find with pancakes or Yorkshire pudding batter that leaving for approx 20 minutes works better than cooking straight away.
PN not eating probably didn't help with the overwhelmed feelings low blood sugar and all that
I had a good catch up yesterday and enjoyed the sunshineunfortunately lunch wasn't great it seems you can make a bad fish finger sandwich   we decided to try somewhere new but won't be going there again. My friends husband and son joined us later in the afternoon and treated us to a dessert and a Kir Royale
Housework this morning and then I dropped something off at a friend and had a cuppa before lunch. This afternoon I plan to make some minestrone soup for lunches and cook some apple and blackberries.
Lunch was cheese on toast, not sure about dinner yet I've taken a turkey steak out of the freezer so I'll have a think

s*d it, I went overboard earlier, bought some choc gingers yesterday, was going to put them away but I ate every one of them just now. Being indoors on a wet sunday makes me prowl the house looking for goodies if I haven`t got anything to do.0

PN, that nuker has served you well in it's time, it deserves, although not get, some sort of Viking funeral floating out to sea into sunset on flaming boat;)
Lunch was cheese & HM chutney YS rolls
Rain came back, dinner will thus be last of the ham, eggs & chipsI had a good catch up yesterday and enjoyed the sunshineunfortunately lunch wasn't great it seems you can make a bad fish finger sandwich

BTW Andy, the pancake link you found does seem much easier than Delia's https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/3374/perfect-pancakes and now I fancy pancakes:rotfl:Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Spent this afternoon making mini crustless quiches, minestrone soup and stewing some blackberries and apple, I'm trying to be good so no crumble  the soup had about ten difference types of veg including the saved stalks of tenderstem broccoli and the tops of some fennel as well the last of my tomatoes.
I then tackled the freezer and larder cupboard tidy and audit, beef mince and tinned tomatoes seem to be multiplying in the darkthere are twelve HM ready meals which I need to add to the audit but reached the cba stage. I'll type it up once his lordship gets off the notepad, he didn't take kindly to me trying to reclaim it
I decided against the turkey steak for dinner so that will have to be tomorrow and had a portion of soup for dinner followed by some cooked fruitLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

Thanks. I just looked at about 4 of them and based the two links just on speed/easy to follow/ingredient listing. They may not be the best ones anyone could make but they would certainly be quick/cheap and easy and with a bit of luck quite yummy!

I decided against the turkey steak for dinner so that will have to be tomorrow and had a portion of soup for dinner followed by some cooked fruitIts funny as PN mentioned those crispy bakes and my thought at that time turned towards 'uncle bernards' turkey steak/burgers (pretty sure the name changed about 10 years ago)
They used to be nice in the 80's but I'm sure something about them changed in the 90's, same with that 'roll' they did, I recall many a happy Sunday with one of those but the last time we had one about six or so years ago if not more they were nothing like and we did try a few times over the months. I think just recipe changes perhaps. I realise that people change too but if I had to guess I'd say something went from meat sliced to perhaps pressed bits (unsure of correct term here) or something like that. Then again I think the company owners changed or production did years ago too. Not that I'm dissing it in any way. To be fair their turkey-ham pack is cheap if you hunt around and a half reasonable cob/roll filler.
Thanks to both who pointed out that LO = Left Overs! Makes sense now. I had a vague idea it was "low" something as in calorie/diet related.0 -
I just had some Maggie curry noodles, n a bread roll for tea.Not really hungry today"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
