  • Yup I was thinking of soup, I've got a great recipe somewhere, but we'll see what's left - carcass was stripped & disposed of days ago (we balance vegan with omnivore in this household). Then of course there's ramen...

...oh yes, ramen won and as there wasn't much flobbly, cat got some nice bits...

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • I had a toasted roll with half a tin of baked beans for breakfast. Green tea too.

    Good morning everyone,

Wednesday I think like so many tomato varieties you need to grow them from seed and they don't seem to appear commercially. Although a beefsteak these aren't massive about the size of a small orange. When ripe they are mainly a deep pink, slightly bluish colour but the top of the fruit stays green. They slice really well and are juicy and sweet but not mushy. If you ever see any I definitely recommend trying one.
pattypan - definitely worth sorting out a LPA at the same as re-doing your will, avoids any confusion about what your wishes are.

My son arrived as planned and we had a relaxing time just chatting and chilling. He's out and about today catching up with pals and his Dad. If he doesn't eat out he'll pick up a chippy for dinner so I'm CFO. I'm keeping it simple with a one tray job of jerk spiced chicken thigh, baked sweet potato, mini corn cob and roasted tomatoes.

Thanks brambling, I must admit I was dithering about LPA but I do know that suddenly it can be too late and a court takes over rather than somone you want. I will make an appointment tomorrow as I am going to get my will updated

Pattypan if you are comfortable doing it yourself it will cost £82 for each form (medicial and financial) and they are very straight forward. There is a message board somewhere on MSE for it or you can go to https://www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney

You have also reminded me that my will is 15 years old and my executors need to be amended as well as a few tweaks especially as my youngest nephews are now adults. I may look at some of the charities which offer will writing services for a donation as it is very straightforward will, I think they do it in October

Another wet day and it's really quiet in the office with only six of us in and four are in an all day meeting. I didn't get home until nearly 11pm last night and was then too tired to sort lunch so this morning it was a case of what can I throw together for lunch as it's going to rain  Lunch will therefore be a basic salad (spinach, tomatoes, cucumber and sugar snaps peas) with soft blue cheese and grapes

Not sure about dinner yet probably something with air fried chips i have some fish goujons or bacon and egg and plenty of veg so I won't starve :D

It looks barring any hitches, that my Dad's flat off the market, we've had and accepted a formal offer for the price we wanted. Legal stuff still to be done but a nice start to the weekend.:)

Another rainy night, looks like the need for me to keep watering is now over for the year

Into L's on way to volunteering, hoping to get some specials cheeses in, but in the event the ones I fancied, blue types, had sillt short BBE life, about a fortnight. I know cheese keeps but I'd hoped for a t least a month
Finished up with some Vintage Cheddar & Stilton plus usual stuff & a YS wholemeal 20p loaf

Last night's "dinner" in the end was two ham & tomato rolls, plus bowl of my free granola, with chopped fresh pear + last of my runny yoghurt

Never had granola before, eating it reminded me of Grape Nuts when I were a lad. I was not keen on them and can't say I'm overly struck on granola:(

I'll finish the free packet but will not replace it. Marketing ploy fail for Mr K

Lunch was ham sarnie, using YS loaf

Dinner, not sure, could be repeat of ham rolls & granola as my CBA is at maximum setting just now

I tend to do the online 'will leave at local post office' thing for anything I miss, as even though there is a small cost to it, the sorting office is about 45 minutes walk away and when I had the car the parking was nearly £1 a couple of years ago. You could not "chance it for 5 minutes" as there was -always- a warden there as it was a prime 'location' for them. Just a thought ( you no doubt have I guess :) ) if its more convenient/easier to go to a post office you elect rather than the sorting office. Do have to wait another day I think sometimes though.
I did think of PO forward, but the first available convenient time for PO for me would be next Tuesday and I was in town yesterday, where sorting office is. I've use PO collection before and think it worth the 50p or so

Caron, one of next years' toms is goung to be Bloody Butcher. Already have the seeds, and hoping to get that old style taste

  • Good news Caronc.

I had a toasted wholemeal pitta with vegan ham, lettuce and mustard for lunch.

I'm making soup for dinner, butternut squash, sweet potato and carrot.:A

That's good going in this market. Here I'm seeing gazillions of flats coming to market every day, they all blur into one!

I am not looking for a flat, but I do keep an eye out for "peculiar ones" just in case...

I hope it all goes smoothly for you.

It's been mad/hellishly windy here today, gusting at 50mph.

Slowly plugging away at sorting/packing, with a fear of "all this has to fit into my car, including the stepladder & vacuum cleaner, but WILL it".

Done several tip runs; I do small runs, sort a bag out, then take it... building a large pile to do one big run would slow me down as it'd de-motivate me every time I still saw everything in a growing pile.

I tackle something, then off I go. I can't remember now but I think I've done 3 tip runs today. Also did a charity shop run (same idea, sort a few things then drop them off).

And now it's raining a bit.

Just eaten choccies today; I think I fancy a chinese. I won't get my usual s/s chicken balls as they're way too big a portion; I'll go for Hong Kong style s/s chicken as that's a much smaller quantity.

Yesterday I nearly got an indian, but as I was driving there I thought "£7" and decided, instead to go to Sainsbobs and buy a ready meal from there to save a bit. Bought a £2.50 chinese chicken curry/rice.
