Talking of Sandwich fillers, assuming its the 'paste in a pot' affair, locally at least (probably similar for others) I've noted that in one 'bargain place' they have both the Ship and Princ brands, the latter being about 5-10p more , although I cannot really tell the difference between them. There does seem to be sometimes more little 'bits' in the latter but they are edible anyway.
Should point out only tried the beef one as aside from the chicken (or it is chicken/ham) its all they have usually. Not a fan of fish paste though so not tried that.0 -
I suddenly felt very hungry again so I'm making Slimming World chips in the oven. I'm going to have a side salad to go with them.0

'syn-free' , I had a thought before I looked that it would just involve cutting a potato or two into smaller slices.
(Not aimed any anyone just general) I want to ask a daft question related to chips, specifically utensils. Those 'potato cutters that you see, I was told to "avoid the plastic cheap ones as it will only last a few go's" , are they actually any good ? The type that you insert a potato in, pull/push etc and end up with some chips. Last time I looked they were about £12 I think for a metal one. Realise a "professional" badged one is about 4 times that price and chip shops will have an automatic 'tub thing' that rumbles and likely chips etc all in one.

Looked in that area today actually for a "twin pack" Gins chicken/mush slice as its two full ones for £1, sadly there was an empty space, plenty of the steak slice and a cheesy one, neither of which I like. Same with the saus rolls.
I did look in the 'well known in the Midlands' cake shop however as I wanted to see if there was any fruity loafs present (sadly not) their small custard cakes were 75 or 79 pence each, for those who do not know they are the same small size as the twins/quads you get from the supermarkets. To be fair they are a bit nicer! The saus-roll-bites were 1.80 something so I skipped those as you have to pre-order them for next day. This is not a moan, they are -always- busy.0 -
Just popped out, on a whim, to the local chippy. £2.50 but it's a big portion and they're good.0

Good evening everyone,
Lol Brambling re gurgles during tai chi :rotfl::rotfl:, I'll bet you weren't the only one.;)
Glad the remonals went ok PN, if you deserved a big portion chips after that.
Lucky you re the tickets Wednesday, I love SW chips & wedges it how I always make them. They compensate for how I make mash which definitely isn't SW friendly :rotfl:
The smell of HM tomato sauce simmering is one of my favourites Blue Doggy, I don't mind "bits" in tea probably because I'm guilty of making it and then only drinking half so tend to avoid them. Mind you a mouthful is always a nasty surprise if I forget I've used loose leaf instead of bags:eek:.
I've felt a bit more like it today and decided to tackle some chores. Possibly not the best idea but hey ho they got done. I had a lovely (very long) natter on the phone with a pal, my we can talk...... She's someone I met through work in 2000 and we immediately hit it off. It's fair to say we are a very unlikely pairing, complete polar opposites in most everything but we really hit it off and quickly became firm friends. We don't live near each other but meet up a few times a year and speak on the phone often and a chat with her always gives me a real lift for the rest of the day.:) We'd probably still be yapping if the fuel guy hadn't arrived with my delivery:o:o.
Tomorrow my elder son arrives for a few days, he has leave to use up or lose it and is in Edinburgh through work on Tuesday so thought he'd come up for a visit. I suspect he'll be out and about a fair bit so I probably won't be about much until Tuesday. I've had a request to make stuffed pasta in a broccoli & pesto sauce for dinner tomorrow night as apparently his brother raved about it after I made it for him. Suits me as it's really easy to do and I have everything in for it.:)
Lunch today was crackers with brie, a sliced "Purple Cherokee" beefsteak tomato and some grapes. The tomato was super delicious- but the last one I think I'll get this year:(. It's first time I've grown that variety and they did really well so one for growing next year. Dinner tonight is baked gammon steak with pineapple, mini corn cob, cheese & onion croquettes and some nuke steamed asparagus.

chemo rules for me this week as the steroids have worn off but fatigue remains so yesterday Mrs Un was dispatched to the Waitrose deli counter to get a cooked chicken. Had about a third of that yesterday with a couple of baked potatoes, stripped the carcass (not easy with one hand and you're trying not to flick chicken flobble across the kitchen) - flobbly bits went to the cat. Today was the main event, not done for a couple of years, roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots, sprouts, in fact a chicken dinner but with lukewarm chicken (the gravy warmed it up a little) - fantastic. And more flobble for the cat. Tomorrow probably chicken rice & peas, thence to Friday and FISHANDCHIPS (nothing for cat there as I like my salt & vinegar)
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
Sorry to hear you are struggling unrecordings - nothing like a rubber chicken to give lots of lovely meals - chicken dinners are so comforting. Hope you can find have enough oomph to make the carcass and the bits the cat hasn't snaffled into some lovely stock for HM soup. HM chicken soup is hard to beat if you are under par. <<hugs>>.0

I’d thought that after many years of teabag use I’d have got over it, but sadly not..
It took me over 30 years to stop leaving a half inch of tea in the bottom of a mug :rotfl: my nephews could never understand why my sister and I did this, my dad often 'forgot'to use a strainer
Glad you are feeling a little better CaroncI'm sure your son will make sure you don't do too much
Still rain here although not so hard as yesterday but means I'm a little stir crazy stuck in the office lunch time it also meant a quick trip to T Express on the way back from my sister for breakfast fruit, I was late enough to pick up YS blueberries, 2 packs of blackberries and pre-cut mango for £1.50. As a well as a pot of fancy custard for 25p
I was given a good piece of family news tonight my sis-in-law who was told she had lung cancer a couple of weeks ago has now been told she hasn'talthough she does have a return of the breast cancer she first had 20 years ago it is a better prognosis and the doctor is really optimistic on her beating it again, the future isn't looking as bad as it was which is why we are calling it good news :T
Food wise today, lunch was a seafood stick and egg salad, and dinner was the last of the tomato and veg sauce (2 portions were frozen) with pasta and grated cheese on top
PN I think you deserved a treat of the chips

Awww Brambling I'm glad things aren't looking so dire for your sister. Still not a great result but it could have been so much worse - here's hoping they can halt this for another 20 years , definitely good news <<hugs>>0
