I'm surprised you don't have a box/bag of 'instant goodies in tins' somehow :D , perhaps you do. :) , I realise its more clutter though.

I did. Ate my way through most food though in the last six months as I wanted to run stocks down as there's no point lugging tins about, nor putting them into storage, so everything that could be eaten was.... weeks/months ago + I stopped buying such foods just to keep tins/stocks to a minimum.

My flu jab is booked for the end of Oct, my drs had the over 65s but not the under when I went for my asthma review. They usually book you in on Saturday morning and conveyor belt you in arms bare :)

Smoked tofu is relatively new to me, a friend was singing its praises earlier in the year, I like it crispy with a coconut and peanut sauce, I sometimes think I should try something new then again maybe not as I do enjoy it :). I was going to look out for peanut butter powder as a lower fat option to peanut butter and experiment

My sister has been nagging me, she told me when we were on holiday in Devon that I wasn't always hearing her especially when I was driving and I'm aware that when I wear a headset it's slightly muffled in my left ear so I had a free 15 minutes check in B00ts today, I had hoped it was a build up of wax but it seems not :(. Of course they want me to have a longer 75 minute appointment as he thought I would benefit with 'help' but it's borderline. Instead I've booked a dr appointment he can refer me via the NHS and at least I know then it's none bias opinion and can make a decision, I'm also aware that my sinuses are just settling down after my cold which also effected my ears

I had some of the rice and vegetables I made yesterday for lunch with a little tomato courgette sauce and green beans. Lunch was a little more substantial than usual so dinner was the LO crumbed chicken thigh with some green beans, the chicken was better hot and still crispy but it was still tasty :)

Bit stuck at the moment. I want to load up the car with the first tranche of belongings. Just the "small/awkward stuff" I might as well move myself rather than having removals tomorrow and having them having to faff about with inconsequential items.

I am going today to the unit to do all the paperwork/ID etc, so there's no hold up upon arrival tomorrow. So I figured I might as well take a car full with me.

But it's TIPPING it down. Looking at the weather it will get better, but won't be dry when I want/need it to be.

Food - no idea. I could do an egg roll, but I need to crack on. I'll probably end up at a chippy or supermarket later to grab something.

I've got 3-4 hours when I don't need to be anywhere.... at which time I'll be able to think about food.

EDIT: Went for the egg roll in the end. Out of coffee though. I'd deliberately not bought new coffee.... but I've just run out so I'll probably get a jar later. I didn't want o be packing/carrying an unopened one alongside an open one, but that's not an issue now.

I'll probably just go deaf. Nobody's saying anything of interest to me anyway. My g-g-grandmother was deaf by the time she was 40, it has a column for that sort of thing in the Census.

    Good morning everyone,

Sounds sensible to get an unbiased test done Brambling, especially for borderline results.

Goodness PN - I didn't realise your stuff was getting removed so soon. I hope you've got somewhere ok lined up to go to <<hugs>>
It's tipping it down here too, some of the showers have been torrential. However, I don't need to go anywhere and I'm for a quiet day as my balance is still rubbish!
Salady bits for lunch and bangers and mash for dinner.

It's a difficult shout, I said "any day" to complete, expecting a Wed/Thu or Fri. It turned out to be a Monday.

I want to go round and vacuum/tidy/clean a little, which I can't do if stuff's being moved out and I then need to drop the key off and be 10 miles away to meet the van again.

I've also been let down in the past and wanted some "wriggle room". Some man/van people simply have a van breakdown and instead of instantly hiring a van and doing it, they just don't turn up.

So that meant Sunday.. but it'd cost more on a Sunday/fewer would be working. Ditto Saturday. Fridays they'd probably either be booked or charge a bit extra/be in a rush for the next one. So then I thought "Wed or Thu?" and for some reason decided if I did it Wednesday I've then got over four complete "empty house" days to finalise my position and tie up loose ends.

And so that's how it came about.

I have a room to see later today; en-suite in a nice area, available until 22 Dec, that isn't vacant until Monday though... but it is a nice/cheap 3 month stop gap if I like it, from where I can then plan my next address and evaluate how house hunting is going :)

It's actually a "trendy" B&B, not a private house as such. Hotel living. Vintage boutique. As a visitor/holidaymaker they charge £65-70/night for that room.
It's been on Four in a Bed on telly before.
  • The smoked tofu was nice, I will be buying that again.

I've had a toasted bagel with marg and then a smoothie made with banana and almond milk.

    Good evening everyone,
Hope the jab went ok Wednesday, you've reminded me I must book mine. Hopefully I won't have the same issues with the receptionist that I had last year who said I wasn't eligible. The nurse had other ideas and I was duly jabbed at my BP appointment! I'm happy to pay for it but there's nowhere locally I can get one, the nearest is about 8 miles away which is problematic for me.

Yes, I got it done in Boots rather than my local pharmacy this time. I asked if it was free as I have an exemption certificate for prescriptions but it wasn't covered so I had to pay.

I have had the flu jab twice before and felt ill afterwards but I felt okay this time.:)

It was chucking it down here this morning as I went off to L's, at least it saved me having to water the plants pots at my volunteer place.

L's came up trumps with YS hot dog rolls and just in time.

Pack of 6 for 20p. Ideal for my limited bread consumption. That''ll take me through until Thursday and fingers crossed I'll find another YS pack in there Friday

More Stilton bought just in case, and SR flour for dumpling purposes, and a pot of yoghurt in case my HM is beyond rescue with next batch

L's did have Pukka pies on offer, 69p from memory. I nearly bought some but BBE was this weekend, which may be reason for reduction of course.

If better dates come Friday I'll get a few in to freeze

Lunch was 2 of the YS rolls with cheese & HM chutney filling
Dinner to be last of the LO buffalo stew

I think I'll take a steak out to defrost for tomorrow's dinner. It would've been a Pukka pie but for the date

Mine used NHS, but at the time T Blair was in charge and ear department was flush with dosh in our new PFI hospital.

Since then it has gone downhill here, no more walk in for instance, and only one aid, not one per ear as I received

But still good service, just longer wait now

Had to pop to Sainsbobs, money for Mr Man/Van will be required... so I browsed. Thought "pizza", wasn't over-enamoured of any of them, but noted the boxed £3 ones (a red sticker price) were cheaper £/Kg than the cheapo £2 ones. Then, round the corner, there was a single £3 one YS to £1.99, so I grabbed it. Flavour/toppings pretty much irrelevant.

Sliced it into 3 pieces, to fit the mini oven. One bit's being cooked now. I'll toss in another when I remove that one. Then, time/CBA depending, will cook the 3rd piece, else I'll cook the 3rd piece later.

Needs to be chilled.... but I figure if I cook it I won't die if it sits for 4-5 hours :) I's only pepperoni and cheese.

If i used that logic I wouldn't wear glasses either which would really limit my life :cool:and watching my mum go deaf and refuse to wear her hearing aid is something i would prefer not to happen if possible :)

If it is confirmed that I need hearing aids by the NHS i'll have to think which way to go, I do know B00ts are not the cheapest place to go to if i go private  it's not bad enough to be an issue at the moment other than annoying my sister or whoever is sitting in the passenger seat :o I've read that the NHS now refer to SpecSavers so not sure if that has sped things up or not :)

Horrid journey to work today, torrential rain with a lot of surface water my colleague said there was aquaplaning on the A23, at least traffic wasn't so fast on the country roads, most people had the sense to slow down. It did amuse me as I was driving with windscreen wipers on full when the local news advised that the rain had moved on from us to the next county

Lunch was more of my rice, vegetables and veg haggis made on Sunday with green beans. Not sure about dinner as I have to go out 6.30pm for a couple of hours and I don't want to eat first all this talk of cheese and biscuits reminds me I have some dolcelatte and grapes in the fridge so it may be that with crackers
