    Good evening everyone,
Just waiting for a pasty to bake, I was good and resisted the offer to pick up a takeaway after the meeting but kind of wish I hadn't now. I decided only something laden with carbs/fat would satisfy so as pasty it is. Healthier eating definitely on the cards for tomorrow. I enjoyed every mouthful of my chicken & stuffing roll for lunch but definitely not the best day in the F&V department though I did have an apple & a peach late afternoon! There's some chicken left which I'll use tomorrow but no more stuffing:(.
It's been a funny old day weatherwise, the rain didn't arrive but there were lots of rumbles of thunder, I decided working in a metal framed greenhouse might not be the most sensible idea:eek: so the tomatoes remain untamed. I had a play with my new drill and replaced three hanging basket brackets which were on their last legs. Took blinking ages as it was an awkward stretch/angle for me but got it done:).

It seems the child safe battery blister packs are also Brambling safe  it just took ten minutes to open a pack to replace the batteries in my bathroom scales, not sure why it has two small round batteries? Having listened to a radio interview about how much damage they can cause if swallowed by a child I understand the need but I've a feeling a child could have got in quicker than a middle aged lady :o

Heathy evening snack of mixed berries :)

I have a caulie and I have salad bits and a half pack of st agur cheese and half a pack of fresh spinach. Maybe I will stuff the salad into me at 10ish, I had beans on toast early. I want to use the caulie and spinach so maybe some frozen fish in foil at 1ish, then berries granola and yoghurt at 4. My body has a food rest between 4 and 6

Up in the dark about 4.30 couldn't get back to sleep again
Started watching TV, they were reporting someone in Netherlands breeding insects to grind up & add to food. Turned that off sharpish

Thought I'd catch up,with some TV recordings, bummer, the PVR has conked out. Unable to access the recordings:mad: It was rumbling a bit yesterday. So it's only 7.30 and I've just splashed out on new PVR, chucked in delivery this afternoon for £3.95 'cos I CBA to click & collect today

Brambling, a good YS haul there. My W*rose seems a bit short on the YS F & V, maybe it's the time & day I go in

Ref blister pack batteries & screw tops, I had to take my bleach into volunteer work to get the top off:o One of those squeeze and turn types.

Don't mention "easy peel" milk tops:mad: I have to stab them because the glue is stronger than my grip:(

    Breakfast was porridge
Lunch, think it's going to be an egg sarnie + bread pud
Dinner. No idea, may be toast & eggs, or I've a frozen pizza, or I may be tearing what hair I have out as I try & get the new PVR sorted

I've been out and lopped randomly at the top bits of my hedge (which isn't supposed to grow as I already cut random bits off it just a few months ago!). Hate gardening.

I've always had a thing about hating cucumber as it's so hard to get through, then, having decided I'd never bother buying another, ever, I had an egg/cucumber sandwich the other week and decided "Hey, these are the sandwiches for me". So, I bought another cucumber over the weekend. Not a problem, I bought one of the smaller ones in the pile (so it's make fewer sandwiches) but it's still good for 5-6. Meanwhile, back at home, I only had 3 eggs. So, for the past three days I've had an egg/cucumber sandwich, then ran out of eggs.

So it was off to L1dl for eggs this morning, so I can make more sandwiches.

Picked up a 2-pack of breaded cod because it had a 30% sticker on, they're in the freezer. If I'd not been moving I'd have relieved the cabinet of two packs.

4ldi don't appear to sell "mixed beans" any more, so I looked in L1dl and they had them, but 49p.... then I saw red kidney beans are 32p, so I bought those instead. I'd rather have mixed beans, but it's no odds really which I have and I saved 17p by choosing on price.

For a 36p loaf, the L1dl ones are still coming up trumps. They're still "soft and fluffy", which is great. Cheapo bread's historically been pretty cardboardesque and "meh". But they're now super bouncy/soft :) Bought on 9th, dated 14th, half way through the loaf now.

I also picked up a pack of sausage rolls as I was in L1dl. So that's 3 dinners sorted.

    EDIT:

Oops. Just went into the kitchen and spotted a pack of crumpets I bought on the 9th, I'd overlooked them, so I just popped those in the freezer. Tomorrow's date, so they'll be more than fine, but I'll never get round to eating those as I've lots of bread to get through ....

crumpets, yum, just right for cold flaming june.

I ate the salad, stuffed it into myself, didn`t feel like it. I want to go and buy some eggs, I feel like making a big victoria sandwich to freeze in portions. The last one I made was lovely. I tried a ys chocolate sandwich cake from the local co-op and it was dry as anything. Froze portions, took some out, cut off the buttercream and will top with strawberries and creme fraiche. Got to have a pudding. Made me appreciate my hm victoria sandwich, was no comparison

Small piece of salmon is in foil, will have with caulie and spinach, oh yes need to buy good tasty cheddar, want a caulie cheese with nice aftertaste, tomorrow. Loving this walking to the shops malarky but have to wait for dhl first

I had my usual toast for breakfast. I got up late as my husband is on nights again.

I feel hungry so might have my lunch quite soon. Veggie burger in a bun. I had that yesterday as well. Oh, and I had a side of roasted brussels, might have that again too.

  • Really being brave and forcing myself not to buy box of wonky veg. Freezers are full, have fresh veg so do not need but love buying fresh veg in wonky boxes and doing the prep. It takes all sorts. Ref getting youngsters to open stuff, had to call on next door neighbour teen to open a bottle of Limocello for me, it had a cork, makes me look like I have a problem, well I did, could not open it.

    No need to buy more.

It's time now to start eating what you've got in time for Xmas. Get through that veg, so you're clear in the run up to Xmas to fill the freezer with "Xmas relevant food, snacks, knock downs and winter food" :)
