B4lls. if only I were sorted... just realised I was purchase fail :)

Bought a curry, hadn't twigged it's also got rice in the pack, it was only as I was thinking about taking it out and popping the pouch of rice in (that I've opened) that I realised the curry was curry/rice.

So I now have serious rice overload.

    Oh well ... it's food isn't it :)

EDIT: Ploughed my way through most of it, with two bhajis on the side. Utterly stuffed to the gills. Didn't enjoy it. Got about 3-4 spoons of rice left over/wasted.

And that's not all that's gone wrong today. Earlier I thought I'd knock up six little trifles. It was many hours ago ... 4? 6? A tin of fruit salad, a whole Hartley's jam (only 2 years out of date, but that makes no difference).... and the jelly isn't setting... so I can't pop the custard on top. I did eat one very sloppy one earlier though.

I'm sitting wearing a mask as I don't want any of the germs floating around CFO land seems there's lots of poorlies out there today :grouphug: glad to report that other than the usual joint pain I'm ok :)

    Welcome Gooeyblob

Doesn't look like you're having much luck foodwise today PN

Walked into town with my sister for lunch today and to talk about a week away in the UK at the end of July, unfortunately her job means it has to be in the school holidays and needed to be not too expensive  After much toing and froing between us we decided on North Devon so we can go walking on Exmoor and Dartmoor and still be close enough to visit to the coast. So striking while the iron was hot and before her cooker takes its final breath and is given it's last rites we've booked a cottage on the edge of Exmoor for a good price and with great reviews :D. With work manic at the moment it's something to look forward to :j  my nephew is on cat duty :)

Lunch was vegetarian quiche and salad, it was bigger than I expected and had black olives in it which worked well :). Dinner was sea bass and green veg with a salsa verde on top of the fish, I was going to make a tapenade but forgot until after I had made the salsa verde, oh well next time :o

All this talk of pork meant I went looking for a pork chop in the freezer and decided on some pork fillet instead for tomorrow as it's an annoying shape in the freezer, will ponder on what to do with it tonight

I scoffed too many sweeties last night.... and all that rice/curry. Had a sleepless night and now feeling quite unwell from over-eating. Still full/immovable after nearly 12 hours.

Oh dear, seems I've stumbled into the Sick Bay this morning in CFO land;) Hope everyone starts perking up & feeling better

Bummer on the Chinese PN, I find Lidl ones OK when YS but I'm no connoisseur of oriental foods
I had a spell of making my own sweet & sour sauce years ago, it turned out very well I thought but too much faffing for me to bother with these days
    Welcome Gooeyblob:hello:

I really enjoyed last night's steak, the bashing worked a treat, money well spent
However I was still hungry later, so a bowl of muesli troughed:o

Woke up early and got up because could not get back to dreamland

    Porridge breakfast
Fresh 75/25 wholemeal in the Panny, for a lunchtime sarnie
Dinner I'll be following Wednesday's lead with beans on toast, using up last of the rapidly going stale wholemeal loaf

  • Took a small portion of sausage shepherds pie out for tonight, a couple of fish cakes for lunch and a couple of chicken thighs out this morning to defrost and cook tomorrow with packet of piri piri sauce. Trying to make a little room in freezer as am having a delivery on Wednesday with includes 2 trays of chicken breasts and some mince (3 packs for £10). The rest of the stuff is store cupboard stuff which I am decanting into a storage box as no room in cupboards but trying to get a little stash of long-life type goods in case...... Am going to Tesc. this a.m., have a £10 voucher (bought for £5 from Group..) and they have LOADS of stuff half price so again am buying packets etc for stash, things I do use on and off. I do not like shopping as a rule but love to have a full pantry/freezer/cupboard of food, maybe it is an age thing, was born at end of war, we did not go without but dad had garden so grew lots of food. Not worried about potential food shortages re Brexit but just love to look in cupboards and think OH, will have an Indian/Chinese/Mexican/Italian etc etc today. Have 5 boiled eggs in fridge for nibbles.

I had Whole Earth PB on 2 toast for breakfast. I like that PB but not the way it gets stuck around your teeth and gums.:p I must go and floss and brush them in a minute.

I'm making a lentil bolognese sauce with pasta shells and added steamed broccoli for lunch.

I did fancy a roast dinner but cannot be ar*ed to go out and buy some potatoes. Still feeling a bit tired from the vertigo incident this week.

I had a very early night last night. It did me some good.:)

I had a lovely evening out last night. :) The cold pretty much behaved itself.
We popped into a "new to us, but recommended" pub, where we were told their gin selection was good. They were right. :) Really friendly staff, nice clientele, and a lovely strawberry gin. It's a shame it's so far away, because I'd go there again in a shot.
Then we went to the Indian, I'm wobbling along, because gin always hits my head like a ton of bricks. Had a lovely meal! Played it safe with a tikka masala, because I'm not a huge lover of spice, special fried rice, and a naan. The best masala I've had anywhere in a while. Apparently, this restaurant has a branch in my town, so I'll have to look it up.
Rolled home shortly after 11, so well past my bedtime. Currently feeling the effects of the combined food/alcohol/cold/late night combo... I managed to get dressed, despite originally thinking I'd have a PJ day, but I do always feel tons better when I get into proper clothes, albeit "comfies".
I'm currently out of milk, having used it up in my coffee this morning. So I think I'll get some fresh air and walk up to the shop for a new pint.

Not sure what to do for lunch... Haven't really got any "lunch stuff" in the house, apart from one slightly old egg. I think I'll hard-boil it, and maybe grab a tin of soup while I'm out, and get some salt/sugar into my system for a perk up.

I've got a chicken breast defrosting on the side for dinner... I'm going to cover that in pesto, bake it, and do mash and the remaining half of a tin of mushy peas on the side.

Just cooking yesterday's YS pizza. Hot American, £1.18 after 51p knocked off.

Trifles have set, I'll stick some custard on those in a bit.
