I'm in a bit of a low mood, so pondering the idea of getting that Chinese tonight... again. Have to see if I CBA in 3-4 hours when it's open :)

It's a 5.6 mile round trip, so you have to really fancy it :)

S/S chicken balls... but their egg fried rice and plain noodles are rubbish, so I tend to make my own as mine are just as good or better (depends on the method/effort I put into that).

In yesterday evening's yellow sticker shopping I acquired 2 x 600g bags of casserole vegetables, 2 x packs of 8 pork sausages, 1 x 350g pack of celery sticks and a fruit salad for £1.80. So it looks like sausage casseroles all weekend with enough left over for a sausage sandwich and some celery sticks for Monday's lunchbox.
Saved over £20K in 20 years by brewing my own booze.

I had baked beans on toast followed by a tangerine.

There is only one decent Chinese near me and they closed down.

I just used the last two slices of bread and have been trying to not go shopping and using things up. Think I might have picked up DD's cold virus as I feel a bit wobbly so have just ordered a supermarket delivery for tomorrow around noon. I will have fresh bread (some to freeze), eggs, milk, diet drinks, plenty of veg and fruit and some cheese and continental cold meats. It means I don't have to leave the house if I still feel odd tomorrow and will be cheaper than making random trips to the local shop.

Family are not coming for lunch tomorrow so only one dd is popping round. I defrosted some diced beef and have some veg to make a beef stew in the pressure king pro tomorrow morning and have cereal and milk in for breakfast. Decided to stop buying stuff because it is a bargain as it just clutters up freezer and cupboards, stops me finding food I actually like and then goes out of date.

Just had a tin of posh soup and some toast and loading up the dishwasher before making up the bed and maybe having an early night.

    Good evening everyone,

Goodness the lurgy is doing the CFO rounds, hugs (and tissues/lemsip) to all the poorlies.

PN - sounds as though a treat is well needed they do say moving is one of the more strssful of life's events. <hugs>
Farway - sounds as though you are healing nicely but don't over do it but it is good to get back to doing normal things and I'm sure it aids recovery.
Welcome to the thread GooeyBlob - love the name:) though was less keen in your namesake that I squelched my hand into earlier in the greenhouse. I have no idea what it once was and happy to remain ignorant.:rotfl::rotfl:
I had a lovely and relaxing post-lunch snooze with next door's cat on top of me purring for Scotland.:D I think he was comfier than me though as he's big cat and I was well pinned down but it was still lovely.
After that I made a start on setting up the greenhouse, got it tidied and swept out and filled 6 x 80l tubs with compost which involved a fair amount of bending and carrying. Needless to say I'm very creaky and still tonight, do wish I could get in the bath but can't so no point in fretting about it. I'm sure some ibuprofen gel, my trusty heat pad and a couple of glasses of wine will work just as well;).
Thankfully the bacon was just fine and my avocado, tomato and bacon roll for lunch was really tasty. I've another avocado in the fridge (they're on SO just now:)) and bacon in the freezer so a repeat may well feature soon.:D
Dinner won't take long to prep - I've decided to cook the fish in some foil with butter & lemon, bake a spud and nuke some spinach & peas.

    Chinese fail.

Having found a great Chinese takeaway (except they do rubbish egg fried rice and noodles) .... and having thought about it for weeks ... and having decided and worked up to it, I phoned them. Answerphone: closed from 7 May to 21 May.

    Bummer

Now at a loss what to do, I might just end up in L1dl, get some oven chips and see if they've got any battered chicken in the freezers ...

I really fancy Chinese S/S sauce though, you can't buy that in a jar that tastes anything like a takeaway does it.

I'll have to mull this all over ... :( I'd get an indian, except I had one last week (allbeit a bad one from a takeaway I didn't choose) ...

    Off mulling....

I might see if L1dl have Pukka pies still... they did last weekend, bet they've gone now. I could get a tin of mushy peas (not as good as overnight steeped ones, but they are available).

Och PN - that's disappointing but at least you found out before you travelled there, maybe something in Lidl for a treat tonight will grab your eye. Chinese on the 22nd?
What about katsu if you are getting nuggets & chips if you have any curry sauce or they stock it?

Well, I wasn't in the mood for thinking about going to two shops, so I just went to L1dl. Not a bad haul when you consider the cost of a takeaway. I'd have spent about £7 or so on the S/S.

At L1dl I got a bag of frozen chips, 30% off cheap pizza, a pack of sausage rolls... and was looking for chicken in batter (forgot to look for pies) - and I saw a chicken korma and thought "that'll do", then grabbed a pouch of rice (a very rare item for me as I begrudge spending 59p on rice I could make at home for pennies) - I got mexican flavour. Then it was off to the chiller for some onion bhajis. Through the sweeties aisle for some pastilles (they're rubbish now, they changed them two weeks ago). And I think that was it.

Food for five meals for £6.59, less than the cost of one takeaway (even if it is a good one).

Chips, sausage rolls, pizza, curry, rice, bhajis, sweeties.

EDIT: Just stirred the korma, it's not a good one. It's not thick/creamy .... it's the £1.29 one so you don't expect much, but the gravy part is very runny and it doesn't taste of korma, just curry. Oh well, it's not like it cost a lot.
