Lamb's cooked and smells brilliant:D, I discovered that it had been boned & butterflied before vac packing so it didn't take long to roast. I just need avoid the temptation to pick at it.....
ETA - definitely chips or roasties with gammon & cauli cheese;)0 -
I survived getting the propagator downstairs:j
It was warmer in my conservatory, 68F, than my living room, 62F, so post lunch cuppa & radio was in the conservatory, first time this year
While there I saw two butterflies out & about, not an expert but one Red Admiral type and a large yellow one. Hope they survive the night to come, there are crocus and other flowers out so there is nectar for them
Looks like salad was a wise choice today
Now the sun's moved round to my "potting area" down the bottom of the garden I'll get the toms sown later
Line of washing Brambling, sounds like my job for tomorrow, forecast is more of same
Caron, lamb is soo nice, who else have we now tempted?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I survived getting the propagator downstairs:j
The sun broke through from time to time but it was mainly cloudy and not terribly warm. The forecast is more promising for tomorrow after another chilly night though it's not supposed to get quite as cold as last night.
I've ordered [STRIKE]far too many:o[/STRIKE] a good number:) of bedding plug plants that will start to arrive from the middle of March. I've staggered delivery over a couple of weeks (no extra cost) so I'm not overwhelmed trying to pot them on. I'm pleased as this also allowed me to include a tray of winter pansies to come in August.:D
Lunch was the planned LO chicken with coleslaw, salad and a crusty roll. Dinner just needs the gravy made and the veg steamed so not much to do and then it will be "Call the Midwife" on the TV before (another) early night.0 -
Evening
My soup made five portions a little thinner than usual once blitz but I'm not worried as it usually thickens in the fridge, I've froze one but may do some rejigging of the freezer to fit in another portion
Lunch was cheese on toast with some pickle and I've picked a little too much this afternoon on everything but fruit
Dinner was the gammon with cauliflower cheese and airfried chips I was too lazy to cook the runner beans I had planned to go with it. I was interrupted with a phone call so was a little heavy handed with the cheese when making the sauceThere is enough LO for tomorrow as I can't make one portion of cauliflower cheese
. The interruption was an old neighbour I didn't mind talking over her worries re her neighbour with dementia who I also know but when she started on about his nephew's mother I turned the timer on my oven so it bleeped  I was cooking my dinner so I didn't feel too guilty saying I had to go.

'morning
Not a lot planned for the day, I could go out but I'm tempted into buying yet another apple tree and could find myself in a Garden Centre if not careful:o
Porridge breakfast again
I'd put washing on overnight, intending to peg it out this morning, but despite sun & blue sky there is still frost on grass, so chickened out and it's indoors, not a lot of it, just bits & bobsLunch was cheese on toast with some pickle
In sync again, that's just what I've planned for today's lunch, stale bread aplenty
Dinner is also use up, cheesy beans on stale bread toast, with fried eat me quick OOD eggs and a couple of grilled wrinkly toms
Doesn't sound appetising when put like that;) but I know it will be just the ticket
Once sun moves round it's more gardening, beetroot sowing, I'm trying in modules for first time, the daffs are in the way of where I want to grow the beetroot, normally I have runners there but overdosed on runners last year so cutting back on them this yearEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone,
I like your thinking Brambling re the cooker timer:cool::)
Farway - I've abandoned growing beetroot having come to the conclusion it doesn't like growing in pots. I've tried various types over the years and they've never yielded enough to justify the space used. I'm the opposite re the runners, I cut back too far with them last year so plan to up it again. I'd rather have too many than too few:).
Chilly & hazy here this morning but it supposed to warm up a fair bit this afternoon before frost again tonight.
My two challenges for today are to wash my hair (done:)) and change my bed both of which I find difficult when my balance is bad. I'll pop flannel bedding back on but hopefully it will soon be warm enough at night to get that put away until next winter.
The lamb was superb- pink but not bleating and beautifully tender:D. As it was already boned there was more meat than I thought certainly enough to freeze some in LO gravy or make a shepherd's pie as well as sandwiches for a couple of days.:) Lunch today will be cold lamb salad & a crusty roll. For dinner I'm planning a spiced cauliflower "steak" with garlicky mushrooms, grilled toms, asparagus and some spuds LO from yesterday.0 -
Morning! (just!)
I was offered work this morning, but it was at a school I don't especially like (it's always a HARD day there), so I turned it down. It seemed a bit rough to start a new term with a horrible day!
Instead I had a yoghurt for breakfast, then headed off to Lidl for the weekly shop. Got plenty of bread and sliced meat, for making freezer sandwiches for the half-term. I'll probably make them all up later this afternoon, while the bread is still good and fresh.
Lunch will be the packed lunch I made last night, on the off-chance of a days work. I was a bit scrabbling around for stuff, so it's just odds and sods from the fridge.
Dinner will be "something on toast", probably eggs. I have tutoring tonight, 5-7pm. So I'm thinking, make lunch a later one, then have my dinner when I'm home from tutoring.
I think one of my tutees that I do on a Friday night, may be stopping soon... He's one where it's never really gone very well, and I don't think he gets a lot out of the session. I'm thinking, I might well tell them that I wish to stop the tutoring from my end... I've literally got parents contacting me almost every week about tutoring... I'm not relying on this one family for the money...Because it's fun to have money!

I had avocado on wholemeal toast again.
I'm having a smoothie when I get back from my walk.
I have the last of the rice to use up and I was going to make a tomato risotto type thing, well, it's not arborio rice, but near enough.:D0 -
It's dentist day today, not eaten yet. I'll be glad when this is over.... I've had a week of niggles with it.
I might have toast before I go to the dentist... or I might decide to get sausage rolls on the way back.
But ... I don't know if I'll be having an injection, so don't know what state I'll be in when I get back to even think about eating!0 -
Tonight when I get home I will be prepping a large batch of chicken curry for this weeks dinners at home and will be prepping salad wraps (chicken or tuna) for my work lunches.

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.
