Sorry but I find this rather confusing, what point ware you trying to make here? No one has suggested that married people don't sometimes cook for one, just as those who normally cfo sometimes cook for others. Am also unsure just who you are accusing of having a chip. You haven't quoted anyone and cant see any post to indicate that anyone has a chip about anything. This is a lovely friendly thread, everyone is made welcome and all opinions respected.

I think Moneyistooshorttomention made it quite clear that people who aren't single/have children weren't welcome. I don't think her reply was friendly at all.

I think the single supplement on holidays is annoying, but of course there is only one neck quaffing at the bar and not two was my understanding why the difference

Lunch was the fried egg sarnie

Had a virtual mooch around Iceland preparing for the BIG SHOP come New Freezer day
I think it's going to be harder than I imagined, a lot is family sized and I don't want to have to cook a frozen whatever then have to divvy it up, pointless

Then I have my picky ethics,
Poultry products are out, bound to be factory farmed or worse, same for Piggy products. and Lamb, likely to be Halal
Fish & veg are mainly OK but I don't want a freezer full of cod, chips & peas

Really confirmed I that need to buy my meat on line from somewhere ethical free range or similar. I forget who but I remember some CFOers buy meat online, would you mind posting name again please?

I think it might be Muscle Foods you are thinking of,all free range.

They do have some very good offers and sometimes vouchers can be found on line for money off. Hope thishelps.

    Wrong.

I made it plain that a singles thread is a "safe place" to express an opinion other than "families and couples come first". We get the "families and couples" first argument everywhere else....

On here we expect understanding that there are negative sides to it - like being expected to financially subsidise "families and couples". This is a safe place to not be told "Ah - but you should.....".

Obviously we are not privy to things going on inside someone else's life that cause them to misinterpret things other people say....and that cause them to say unwarranted things like "You obviously have a chip...".

No that's just not true, she did not say you were unwelcome, I don't know how you managed to read that into what she posted. Please have another read, she said she hoped you were enjoying the thread how is that unfriendly? Most of us on here have been married and have children. I do respect your right to your opinion as this is what we do on here but am beginning to wonder who has A Chip,

Is it just me or is that link an advert masquerading as editorial?

    Good evening everyone,

Farway - I regularly use online butchers though haven't tried Muscle Foods. I tend to use different ones for different things
    • Heartier - pricey but really good. Fab pork chops & lamb steaks . Quite often have offers on the MSE offers page.
    • Campbells - brilliant for beef, salt brisket, gammon, haggis, lorne, venison mince & game. Cooked meats are pretty decent especially the pastrami which freezes well. They do fresh fish too which I've not tried but their smoked fish is really good. Very good for allowing you to buy 1 of something rather than a pack.
    • Famison- only use them once (not for any reason) and was pretty impressed.
    • The Meatman - very much a chain but steaks, mince and brisket are really good.
It's worth signing up for their newsletter as you quite often get discount codes emailed.
Poultry I tend to buy either from the local butcher or free range from the SM.

I had really lovely lunch and catch up with my friends. The restaurant is up a hill and overlooks the Firth of Clyde on a nice clear day like today the views were stunning and we stayed long enough to see the most beautiful sunset across the bay:). We all opted for the set lunch and I had chicken & ham terrine followed by toulouse sausage in a butterbean stew with mash and veg. Probably should have had something else after having bangers & mash last night but I've had this there before and it's delicious so couldn't resist. I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful of both courses.:) Still stuffed so no dinner needed tonight, if I'm peckish later I'll have some toast.

The concert was very good. I was surprised we could use the voucher I googled on a Saturday , but made it less expensive so a win !

Yesterday dgson and I had roast chicken with roast potatoes and cauli and carrots. We also baked a pineapple upside down cake. Which has been more than half demo,is he'd with cream😊

Today I've cooked an onion with peppers and mushrooms, added half to the lo roast potatoes and chicken poured half a jar of chilli and tomato sauce, with a pile of cheese on top. With my 2nd piece of pineapple upside down cake today!!!!
The other half of the onion etc. Will be used for pasta on weds. I'm out for an early Xmas meal from work tomorrow.
1st I have to get the cat to the vets, for his booster, if I can pin him down.
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.
